Job Description

If you have a positive, can-do attitude and are passionate about making a difference, we want to hear from you.Job PurposeIn our determination to further develop our service and responsiveness to local, regional and national industry we are seeking an enthusiastic individual to support young people aged 16 -24 who are not in education, employment or training (NEET) and move them into further education, employment or an Apprenticeship.This role will sit within our Education department and will be required to support a caseload of young people with individual support. The Skills Programme Advisor will be responsible for providing impartial information, advice and guidance throughout each young person’s programme, and delivering short programmes of group development activities tailored to individual needs.Responsibilities:

  • Engage and develop strong relationships with organisations that will refer young people to the programme.
  • Recruit against contractual outcomes of eligible young people to the programme each week by building on existing relationships across London.
  • Undertake a robust individual needs assessment with every young person and develop a high-quality tailored action plan to include SMART targets and goals.
  • Effectively plan and deliver group development sessions that are differentiated towards individual young people and ensure that their individual support needs are regularly assessed and revised where required.
  • Train, assess, motivate, coach and support young people, assisting them to develop personal, social and employability skills to better prepare them for further education, work and independence.
  • Undertake ongoing and formal reviews with each young person to ensure they remain engaged on programme and review their progress against key objectives set out in their individual learning plan.
  • Keep track of learners by using online data systems and complete the required paperwork and 1-2-1s.
  • Take part in standardisation and team meetings and undertake continuing professional development as required.
  • Maintain high standards of quality and compliance and complete all contractual paperwork and documentation as required.
  • Build and maintain excellent partner/employer relationships that will be essential to the success of the programme.
  • Additional Responsibilities:
  • Manage the participant experience, inspire and gain commitment to overcome barriers through successful delivery of development plans at all stages of the participant journey through to sustained employment
  • Deliver appropriate development activities which address the participant’s barriers to gaining or sustaining employment.
  • Make effective use of appropriate resources to ensure commerciality and value
  • Maximise programme outcomes by meeting and exceeding set targets
  • Deliver employability sessions to both timetabled groups and on an individual basis.
  • Responsible for internal and external queries related to the employability skills programmes, liaising with employers and other curriculum areas.
  • Ensure students are placed in appropriate work placements.
  • Track student progression, monitoring attendance & employability development.
  • Attend meetings and College events as directed.
  • Experience
  • Good standard of English, maths and IT
  • Proven track record of working with unemployed young people.
  • Proven track record of completing contractual paperwork/documentation
  • Proven track record of providing information, advice, and guidance to young people in relation to progression routes
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to adapt Strong interpersonal skills, specifically around listening, questioning, building relationships and motivation.
  • Organisation skills, problem solving and the ability to work under own initiative
  • Information, Advice and Guidance Level 3 and above (Desired)
  • Experience of delivering vocational programmes (Desired)
