This role sits within the Digital Services organisation, which owns and runs the key ITIL processes across Technology (Incident, Problem, Change, Service Asset and Configuration Management) as well as the operational management of our Data Centre service and Colleague Computing Service. Team Description The Technology Service Engagement team consists of 5 teams responsible for IT Change Management, Service Introduction, Service Asset and Configuration Management, Service Management and Problem Management. The Service Architect reports into and represent this area whilst working on IT Transformational Programmes.Brief Posting DescriptionThis role will be helping to establish Service Architecture as a discipline at The Bank of England. This will be taking a hands-on approach and show the value Service Architecture, with a view to embed within the organisation.You will be responsible for defining the service design requirements needed in support of an IT Transformation Programme, involving the integration of enterprise-class solutions across the organisation. These solutions encompass but are not limited to Cloud, and middleware solutions that will designed to ensure they can be made operational from a support, maintenance and governance perspective, at an enterprise level.The Service Architect role represents the Banks Technology Division and is responsible for ensuring all IT Services delivered through projects are designed built introduced in a safe supportable way. Through matrix management and senior management influence and industry level delivery experience, it ensures that IT Services are fit for purpose and fit for use enabling the Bank to perform is core purposes.Detailed Description As the Service Architect, you will be required to look at the solutions and understand: what the Service Design should look like, designing and proposing potential changes to our current operational processes including any process transformation, and the necessary resources required to support the design. The Service Architect is concerned with all aspects of the Service, ensuring that comprehensive and forward looking service designs are produced; incorporating operational requirements early into technical designs required to manage a structured and safe transition to live service. The Service Architect will represent the Service and Support organization and work closely with project teams, multiple Technology and Business directorates and Senior leaders to apply methodical excellence whilst applying their extensive knowledge of Service Management. The Service Architect will be a subject matter expert on Service Design / Service Architecture and Service Management principles, and act as a single point of contact representing the Digital Service division, and area of specialism. Leading the decision making process and influencing divisional thinking around processes and operating models Essential Criteria - The successful candidate will Functional knowledge• have a track record of success in Service Architecture and Service Design roles in an IT environment with a focus on Cloud & AWS ,Enterprise wide solutions, End User Computing, Enterprise and Managed Services, Data Analytics and Cyber Defence/Security• have experience of maturing the Service Architecture process, with a focus on cloud services and agile delivery methodologies. • have a clear vision for the service architecture and design discipline• have experience of creating Service Design Packages on large scale transformational programmes • have a track record of process implementation and a background of working to both current standards, but also creation of process for a new operating environment• have experience of identifying service based risks and issues.• have knowledge of the technologies used to build and operate digital services.• understand the different technical roles in a multidisciplinary team.• have experience of Project Lifecycles, in both waterfall and agile delivery.• Have experience of understanding Non-Functional Requirements and Service Design. • have Service Management Tool Design & Specification experience• ITIL V3 Foundation qualification (Pre-requisite).• ITIL V3 Lifecycle qualification in Service Transition ( Pre-requisite).• ITIL V3 Lifecycle qualification in Service Design ( Pre-requisite).Situational Awareness • Be able to have an overall perspective on business issues, events, activities and an understanding of their wider implications and long-term impact.
