The Hayward Gallery is the hub of visual arts activity at Southbank Centre and plays a vital role in the UK and internationally by presenting a wide range of ground-breaking art exhibitions, both at the gallery and through its national touring programme.Hayward Touring produces exhibitions that tour to galleries, museums and other publicly-funded venues throughout Britain. Exhibitions are seen by up to half a million people in over 100 cities and towns each year and range in scale from the British Art Show- the largest and most ambitious survey of recent British art, organised in different cities around the country every five years - to international group exhibitions produced with guest curators, artists and writers. The programme also extends to support theArts Council Collection smaller monographic print and photography exhibitions, touring to a variety of venues including galleries, libraries, universities, colleges and schools, arts centres and historic sites as well as larger touring shows.This is a fantasticopportunity to join the dedicated Technical team responsible for helping the Southbank Centre realise its ambitious visual arts programme. You will participate in the planning, installation, de-installation and maintenance of Hayward Touring exhibitions, thosein the Hayward Gallery itself and also on other visual arts projects at Southbank Centre.You will work as part of the Hayward Gallery Operations team and will be rostered flexibly over 7 days for up to 160 hours over four weeks including occasional weekendsto meet the needs of the programme. This role will involve extensive travel around the UK involving many nights away from the London base.You must be an experienced art handling technician and have worked in this role in a gallery environment installing, handlingand packing a wide range of artworks including works on paper, paintings, sculptures and audiovisual installations.
