Job Description

Senior Tax Manager IFRS17 - In-HouseLondon - flexible working encouraged£100,000-£115,000 + 20-40% bonuses & equity sharesAre you ACA/CTA qualified with demonstrable experience in direct taxationDo you have experience in a reporting-based role and a process-improvement mindsetLooking for a progressive in-house opportunity with a multinational and brand-name insurerWe are currently searching for a Senior Tax Manager to support this leading and multinational insurance business. The primary purpose of the role is to support the introduction and integration of IFRS17, working with the wider tax team to ensure the workstream can be appropriately managed. Reporting into the EMEA Head of Corporate Tax, the responsibilities will be primarily focused on project management, team mentorship, multi-jurisdictional and technical tax reporting. Alongside some ad-hoc compliance support, specific responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and preparing the monthly IFRS 17 activities, liaising with the project team and outsourced advisors
  • Management and preparation of accounting policy reviews, alongside identifying tax impact & requirements
  • Developing & maintaining understanding to build the understood deferred tax positions across GAAPs, alongside preparation of supporting documentation
  • Developing & leading on tax accounting processes for financial documents (US & local)
  • Developing, leading & preparing reporting packs as required by the IFRS 17 project team & group tax
  • Supporting and mentoring junior members of the tax team
  • Continual review and up-gradation of reporting and compliance processes on a local and group level
  • Standardisation and automation of existing and new processes to drive efficiencies and add value
  • Supporting broader financial transformation projects
  • Assisting with review and/or prepare regional tax computations as needed and support Tax Authority engagement as directed
  • Maintaining technical knowledge on legislative advancements for IFRS17 and ensuring an understanding for impacts (e.g. BEPS 2.0) for the business
  • Regular liaison with the IFRS project team and review of existing tax policies
  • Ad-hoc support on tax projects with the EMEA Head of Tax and Head of Direct Taxes, as required
  • The successful candidate
  • ACA/CTA qualified essential
  • Significant direct taxation experience, in-house or a top professional practice
  • Experience with tax reporting, alongside the utilisation of reporting tools (e.g. OneSource or Longview)
  • Reporting specialism - either under IFRS, UK GAAP and US GAAP (if not all)
