Job Description

BackgroundWe are presenting an exciting opportunity for a Senior Tax Manager to join our Tax team within Group Finance of Christies, an international auction house with presence in approximately 30 countries globally. Christies Tax team is proactive in its management of Christies tax affairs and partners with businesses and senior stakeholders.The role will report into the International Tax Manager and would best suit someone with a broad tax accounting, advisory, and transfer pricing background. The candidate will be tasked with the management of the Groups tax affairs relating to EMEA in all aspects.In addition, the candidate will assist the International Tax Manager to manage all transfer pricing affairs globally, including reviewing Christies global transfer pricing calculations, liaison with business to ensure its transfer pricing methodology is implemented properly, dealing with transfer pricing audits, transfer pricing documentation and country by country reporting. In addition to strong tax technical capabilities, the candidate must be a team player, self-starter, demonstrating strong work ethics and attention to detail.Key Responsibilities:

  • Working with EMEA finance teams to review and manage the tax reporting processes from start to finish. The candidate must have strong tax accounting and reporting background
  • Provide tax risk management and oversight for EMEA, identifying risks and opportunities. Monitor legislative development for EMEA. Support EMEA finance teams on tax queries.
  • Take ownership of the global transfer pricing calculations
  • Liaise with business and Group Legal to ensure Christies transfer pricing methodology is implemented and maintained properly globally
  • Prepare and review Christies Local Files for all relevant territories, review and finalise country-by-country reporting
  • Monitor OECD and local country transfer pricing developments for new compliance requirements
  • Deal with tax authority enquiries and provide audit defence for EMEA
  • Provide support to Group Tax team outside of immediate responsibilities as required, e.g. UK statutory reporting, tax return preparation or other UK filings, cross-border refinancing, intercompany loan rationalisation, legal entity reduction
  • Technical skills:
  • ACA, or CA qualified
  • CTA or ADIT qualified
  • Experience of corporation tax compliance and reporting
  • Experience of international tax matters
  • Commercial experience gained in Big 4/Tier A accountancy firm or Blue Chip in-house tax department
  • Soft skills:
  • Team player
  • Strong communication skills - written & verbal.
  • Strong personal management skills, ability to organise self/office and liaise effectively with staff

  • Self-motivated and can take a task from start to finish with minimal supervision
