We are lookingfor a Sr. Software Development Engineer to join the Video Commerce Checkout and Order Management team. As a new program started in 2020, we built a new team to work from scratch on Checkout on living room devices (Example: Smart TVs, tvOS, set-top boxes) andOrder management experience on Web, Mobiles, Fire TV and Smart TVs. The team builds Checkout experience for Movie, Prime and TV Channels, reduces customer service contacts and build trust by providing customers with a trustful and consistent set of self-serviceorder management experiences on all Prime Video devices in all marketplaces. Checkout experience enables new customers to create an Amazon account, subscribe Prime/TV channels and purchase movies on their living room device. Order management encompasses allcustomer experiences after a customer completes their initial transaction including cancel, refund and renew from apps and using customer agents. A day in the life 1. Work on technical architecture for create account, Signin and Checkout on living room devicesto ensure security of account details and payment card details 2. Able to made significant code contribution using react native and Java 3. Provide bar raising feedback on other engineers CRs and help them to grow them. 4. Its highly ambiguous and complexarea with huge customer impact. We expect to help business to prioritise features, define milestones and lead the team to execute 5. Make appropriate trade-off between technical and customer experience 6. Able to quickly prototype and experiment new ideasJob responsibilities The key responsibility will be a) Articulate and define long-term architecture for Living room devices for signups and post signups experience that can scale on millions of devices and in 240+ countries b) Closely work with Product manager,Program manager, UX design and engineering team to define technical roadmap and execution plan that move us towards our ambitious vision to have Checkout and Post Checkout experience as first class citizen on living room devices c) Lead highly ambiguous andcomplex problem to solve at scale with the forward looking tools and technologies d) Grow our two pizza team in their technical competencies through mentoring and coaching e) Provide reasonable trade-offs and way forward between tech evolution and customerexperience f) As the most experienced member in a new team, you will be expected to help define and improve our development and operational process by setting up good mechanism in place BASIC QUALIFICATIONSNon-internship professional software developmentexperienceProgramming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented designExperience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and currentsystemsDegree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field, or equivalent work experienceComputer Science fundamentalsHighly proficient in at least one of Java, C++, C#, Objective-C, JavaScript, Ruby, Perl and/or Python programminglanguagesEvidence of working with algorithms, data-structures, efficiency, concurrency, performance optimisation, resiliency, availability and exception handlingEvidence of working with object-oriented development and design patternsOS fundamentalsand systems architectureCloud computing, large-scale and high-availability distributed architecturesExperience working with Agile methodologies and using Agile practicesStrong analytical and excellent problem-solving skillsSolid written and verbalEnglish communications skillsAbility to work effectively cross-group and great passion for team collaboration PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSExtensive knowledge and experience with Java and React native developmentExperience building complex distributedsoftware systems including front-end that have been successfully delivered to customers, and are sustainably maintained and supportedKnowledge of professional best software engineering and DevOps practices across the full software development life cycle,including coding quality standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing and automation, chaos testing, deployment and pipeline management, service readiness and operations, maintenance and supportHands-on expertise in technologies,typically ranging from front-end user interfaces through to back-end systemsExperience with AWS infrastructure and services Amazon is an equal opportunities employer.
