The selected candidate will join the CME Engineering and Execution team in Belfast as a Senior Software Engineer within the Risk Systems team. The Belfast team is responsible for the delivery of innovative, customer-facing risk management software solutions to support CME customers. A Senior Software Engineer within the team will contribute to all facets of the development cycle including the application architecture, feature development and refinement of CI/CD processes. Principal Accountabilities Participate in technical discussions, building consensus on detailed design and architecture plans for complex, large scale efforts. Applies expert knowledge of java language, DBMS and middle-ware technologies in independently designing and developing key services. Authoritative contributions to code reviews via PR process, ensuring good practices adhered to as well as identifying potential issues Plays a lead role in preliminary story review, providing constructive feedback and input on both work effort estimation as well as architecture/design improvements. Plays a key role in working with analysts to interpret high level requirements for complex, large scale initiatives and decomposing them into independent testable stories and sub-tasks for the team. Expected to develop network of relationships within the organization to achieve results and to effectively communicate vision and status both within/across teams as well as to management Drives continuous improvement efforts by identifying and championing practical means of reducing time to market while maintaining high quality products (i.e. - process improvements/automation opportunities). Embraces and enforces CME Group SDLC and information security standards. Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members. Essential Criteria Bachelors degree (with honours) or equivalent/better strongly preferred, but substantial relevant experience could substitute Strong knowledge and experience of Agile SDLC methodologies including BDD/TDD practices Strong Java development skills Expertise in Object Oriented Design and Patterns Expertise in Spring Frameworks - Spring Boot. Desirable Criteria Strong DBMS skills - Oracle Previous development experience in high volume, low latency applications Experience in REST APIs CI/CD processes using Bamboo/Jenkins Prior experience working in financial services/exchange space.
