Within Upstream, the Africa Regional Team focuses on tracking, reporting and analysing exploration and production activity in the African Continent. This post, Senior Research Analyst - Rig Market, for Petrodata within the Africa team, requires the colleagueto deliver trusted data and market intelligence on the global offshore drilling rig fleet. Collected since 1984. Petrodatas rig market intelligence helps strategic planners, procurement specialists, business development managers and market analysts build a detailed view of the sector and its players. The team is composed of eight members aroundthe globe, providing constant updates and analysis of the offshore drilling rig market. Your RoleYou will be a key member of the team reporting on and analysing developments in the global offshore rig market, with emphasis on West Africa. You will be responsible for the tracking of supply and demand for offshore rigs. You will be considered an expert inthe sector. Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing daily news to subscribers
  • Gathering and maintaining accurate data of assigned offshore drilling rigs contract activity
  • Gathering and maintaining accurate data of demand for offshore drilling rigs
  • Maintaining and growing an industry contact network
  • Contributing to monthly reports
  • Analysing data trends
  • Presenting to customers and providing customer support
  • Updating Petrodatas RigPoint database
  • Business development activities
About YouYou are an excellent communicator and good at building a network of contacts. You are a good team player but also capable of working well individually. You are an analytical thinker and enjoy helping clients make informed decisions. Key Qualifications and Skills:
  • Excellent written English
  • Knowledge of the offshore drilling market preferred
  • Comfortable making phone calls to seek contacts, establish relationships and elicit sensitive information
  • Able to present to senior management level
  • Analytical skills: ability to see and understand emerging trends and what they mean
  • Editing and proofreading own work and that of others before publication
