Job Description

Centrica Energy Marketing & Trading (EM&T) is the trading arm of Centrica. We trade LNG, gas, power and energy attributes - and connect independent producers, suppliers and corporate off-takers in the wholesale energy markets. We move and trade energy tosatisfy the changing needs of customers.We provide our clients with the best route-to-market services available to the market today, integrating sophisticated software, trading and structuring and optimizing exposures all the way from long term risk management down to physical trading seconds beforedelivery. In EM&T we have a diversified portfolio of energy assets under management, and we represent the new generation of energy traders, leading our customers to value on low-carbon, digital energy markets across the World. Our offices span across London,Denmark, Germany, Sweden and Singapore.As a Senior Product Controller you will supporting a business area and be responsible for understanding the day-to-day movements of PnL and Risk and be able to report up to senior management level. You will also be responsible for month end reconciliationto the General Ledger explaining the financial vs economic differences and investigating any unreconciled items.As part of this role you will be responsible for and/or be involved in various projects to automate process and move Product Control to the Target Operating Model as well as working with the business to build out systems as we grows and the complexitiesof the business require enhancements to our existing model.Product Control is at the heart of the business, hence knowledge of a trading business and excellent people skills are essential.This is a London based (close to Marble Arch) role and we encourage hybrid working with c3 days in the office and c2 days from home.The Job role:

  • Responsible for the Daily production of P&L and Positions to the trading Desk and Senior Level management
  • Daily calculation of Reserves and Price Testing
  • Monthly Reconciliation of the reported P&L o the General Ledger
  • Supervision of Junior Team member(s)
  • Build out of the Target Operating Model (T.O.M) within Product Control and across Finance
  • Working with other functions on significant new trades and how these will be captured for PnL and operational readiness and/or mitigating controls
  • Feedback to management within PC and across Finance and Trading of operational risks and actions to close out any identified
  • Leading monthly Integrity Reviews meetings on the LNG Business
  • Working closely with Analysts, Trading and Finance on Forecasts and QPRs etc.
The Person:
  • Product Control experience with a strong background within a trading business, investment banking or similar environment
  • Experience with financial instruments (e.g. futures, swaps) and complex derivatives valuation (Swing Contracts, Options, caps and floors, etc.)
  • Experience with commodities (Emissions, Gas, LNG, Power, Oil, etc.) preferred but not essential
  • Intermediate to high level Excel / VBA and strong knowledge of MS Office applications
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • A strong understanding of trade valuations and risk factors (Delta, Vega, Gamma etc.)
  • Effective communicator with a sense of accountability and ownership of deliverables
  • Ability to share knowledge (both existing and newly gained from above projects) and help train junior members of the Product Control team
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Be a true team player.
