Senior Policy and Advocacy Officer (Refugee and Asylum)Location: UK flexible (hybrid role working between home and office) Contract type: 12-month fixed term contractHours per week: 35 Salary: Up to £34,656 per annum (plus £3,344 Inner London Weighting allowance if applicable) Could you take responsibility for developing policy and practice solutions and advocacy plans across refugee, asylum and vulnerable migrant policy areas, including human trafficking and exploitation About this OpportunityAs Senior Policy and Advocacy Officer you will to join the Policy, Research and Advocacy team and help secure policy change to improve the lives of refugees, asylum seekers and vulnerable migrants in the UK, promoting our advocacy work bothinternally and externally, making a significant contribution to furthering of our advocacy priorities and delivering our organisational strategy. This position will play a key role driving forward the British Red Crosss strategy, developing our thinking and taking forward recommendations made in our recent reports including We want to be strong, but dont have the chance and How will be survive Steps to preventing destitution in the asylum system. With modern slavery legislation expected in the UK parliament shortly, the Senior Policy and Advocacy Officer will also beinvolved in seeking to utilise that process to improve support for survivors of human trafficking and exploitation.You will undertake relevant policy development and ensure the lived experiences of the people we support are reflected throughout our policy and advocacy work, designing and delivering creative and impactful advocacy strategies using the most appropriate methods,from quiet diplomacy to engaging supporters in action, working closely with the public affairs and media teamsSupporting strategic stakeholder engagement to allow us to influence as effectively as possible across the UK and where relevant, internationally, identifying key contacts in Government, national and international stakeholders and ally organisations and developand maintain impactful relationships at the appropriate level, including strategic coalitions.Diversity is something we celebrateAt the British Red Cross, we are looking for the best people to help us provide support to millions of people affected by crisis in the UK.
