Job Description

Job DescriptionThe Senior Physicist is contributes to the day to day operation of all aspects of medical physics activities at their siteThis is a permanent full time role working 37.5hrs per week.The salary being offered will be competitive and will be dependent upon skills and experience.Benefits:

  • Duties & Responsibilities
  • To contribute to all aspects of Radiotherapy Physics operation at employment site as well as other nearby sites
  • To commission new equipment including new linacs and QA equipment under the supervision of the lead physicist.
  • In collaboration with the lead physicist, to accurately calibrate radiotherapy equipment including the linacs and ionisation chambers.
  • To be responsible for maximising up time of the linacs by carefully arranging for maintenance and calibrations.
  • To provide scientific support for the clinical oncologists, radiographers, dosimetrists and the rest of the medical physics team.
  • To participate in the routine tasks within the department including QA, treatment planning and checking, duty cover etc.
  • To take appropriate action where QA results lie outside of tolerance levels.
  • To, in conjunction with the research and development physicist, propose, lead and participate in research and development projects
  • To write comprehensive commissioning reports and work instructions for new procedures, equipment and techniques.
  • Skills & ExperienceEssential
  • Master’s degree in Medical Physics or a relevant subject
  • HCPC registration
  • Experience of working in a clinical environment, ideally within a radiotherapy physics team
  • Desirable
  • Previous experience as a senior radiotherapy physicist
  • Linac commissioning experience
  • Experience with total body irradiation (TBI)
