Job Description

About the TeamThe Occupational Therapy Inpatient team at Lambeth Hospital comprises a 7 strong team of both Senior and Rotational Junior Occupational Therapists and is led by an onsite B7 Occupational Therapist. Lambeth hospital comprises six wards offering care for service users in the acute phase of mental ill-health and also a ward offering rehab services. The inpatient occupational therapy team at Lambeth is committed to working towards providing an outstanding occupational therapy service for all service users.About the role:The OT role sits within the ward team and primarily supports the occupational functioning of service users. This is through providing occupationally focused interventions to promote well-being, occupational balance and support the daily occupational needs of the service users in the ward environment.

  • To undertake occupational therapy assessments for a designated caseload, assessing health and well-being from an occupational perspective.
  • To hold an up to date knowledge of a range of occupational therapy standardised assessments, the models on which they are based and how to carry these out.
  • To identify occupationally focused goals taking into consideration the mental, physical, spiritual, psychological and social needs of the service user and that it is sensitive to age, culture, race, gender, ethnicity, social class, sexuality and disability.
  • To use outcome measures that give clear evidence that occupational therapy has made a difference to people’s occupations and ultimately support social inclusion and promote recovery.
  • Job Purpose: The post holder will oversee and provide occupational therapy assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation on Nelson ward. Nelson ward provides acute inpatient care for women experiencing an acute episode of psychosis. The post holder will be required to hold and integrate both the occupational therapy specific and generic elements of their job, whilst complying with the College of Occupational Therapists’ Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct.About the location:Lambeth hospital sits neatly between the vibrant south London districts of Brixton and Stockwell and is well served by public transport. The hospital is approximately a 10 minute walk from two underground stations, Brixton & Clapham North, a London Overground station, Clapham high street and Brixton mainline station.Our Trust headquarters is located at Denmark Hill less than 5 minutes from the train station (zone 2).
