Job Description

Senior Network Operations Engineer - exciting contract opportunity with major Defence clientWe are looking to recruit a DV cleared Senior Network Operations Engineer on behalf of a major client in the Defence industry.In this role you will take part in interesting and ever-changing work where no two days are the same and youll be working in an environment that is supportive and inclusive. Your opinion will be valued and listened to and you will have the chance to helpcontribute to the strategic direction of future architecture of IT network.The Senior Network Operations Engineer reports into the Head of IT Service Delivery. Youll have the chance to get involved in a wide range of projects and benefit from relevant training opportunities alongside support from expert colleagues.Key responsibilities of the role:

  • Management of network infrastructure and devices including switches, routers, firewalls and load balancers.
  • Monitoring network performance and ensuring system availability and reliability.
  • Ensuring the system remains secure by implementing best practices and procedures.
  • Designing, procuring, implementing, and fully documenting new solutions and improving resilience of the current environment.
  • Dealing with network incidents, performing fail over operations, and managing the resolutions of faults, working with third parties where necessary.
  • Progressing continual service improvement by looking at new technologies, identifying gaps in existing services and how these could be bridged to help drive the road map for the team.
  • Assisting with the delivery of projects in the wider Service Delivery team, focusing on the network infrastructure element of the project.
Skills and experience needed:
  • Active/current DV clearance
  • Significant experience in Network/Network Operations
  • Previous experience working for the Central Government and/or Defence, in highly secure environments, would be a significant plus
