Senior Network Engineer (Subject Matter Expert)Salary: £50,000 - £60,000We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Network Engineer who will act as the Subject Matter Expert supporting one of our well-established clients.The role will be working remotely from home with the ideal candidate being willing to travel when required which depending on location, may involve an overnight stay. Expenses for such travel will be covered by the business.The successful candidate will need to have a flexible approach as there may be a requirement to cover shifts / weekend working. Details can be discussed at interview stage.Due to the nature of our clients work the successful candidate with either need to hold or be able to obtain SC Security Clearance. For this reason, we are only able to progress with applications from British nationals.Responsibilities include but are not limited to:- Designs, supports, coordinates, controls, or operates specialised components of a network whether data or video- Conducts activities such as planning, coordinating, configuring, testing, maintaining, troubleshooting and tuning devices on any given type of network infrastructure which might include routers, switches, firewall systems and network security devices- Specialisation in Aruba WiFi Networks- Maintains data or video network hardware and systems; investigates and resolves network and hardware matters of significance; researches, analyses, isolates and resolves errors; assesses and updates older networks as needed and in accordance with specifiedplans- Provides technical support on data or video networks for internal and/or external customers; answers technical questions; recommends and implements approved course of action- Installs and maintains network facilities, including hardware, software, and system data for small to medium sized networks. Installs network applications on network servers or voice equipment; maintains, tests, researches and resolves problems- Designs, implements, and maintains various networks such as LAN, WAN in accordance with specified requirements- Performs data or voice network configurations and configuration changes of various data equipment such as routers or switches.- Prepares routine proposal documentation and information to meet customer requirementsEssential skills / qualifications:- Aruba SMEs with OS8 deployment design skills, Visual RF Ekahau survey post deployment surveys skills- Aruba Controllers deployment and maintenance- NAC skills required- PaloAlto Firewalls - able to demonstrate significant skill and recent experience- Checkpoint firewalls- In depth experience managing and implementing complex Firewall rule-base policies across multi-vendor Firewall platforms (PA/Cisco/Checkpoint)- Cisco LAN / WAN - CCNP level experience is required- Experience working in a complex routing environment with exposure to OSPF / BGP / iBGP routing protocols- Config and management of IPSec tunnels terminating on both Firewalls and routers- Technical documentation skills- Analytical and problem-solving skills- Skilled in time, priority and task management- Interpersonal skills to interact with customers and team members- Communication skills to interact with team members and support personnel- Ability to work independently and as part of a team- Ability to manage competing priorities in a complex environment- Ability to convey a professional image and deal confidently with technical problems- Willingness to travelDesirable skills:- 802.11ax specifically but PHY standards in general- Client Wi-Fi capabilities troubleshooting, NIC card vendors drivers etc- WPA3 enterprise- Wi-Fi security basics- WIDS WIP- Aruba Model range capabilities WAPS and controllers.
