Job Description

Senior Mechanical Design EngineerBlueprint Recruitment are looking to speak with Senior Mechanical Design Engineers to join a fantastic consultancy on a long-term contract basis in 3 locations - London, The Midlands, and Manchester!The selected candidate will be working on a variety of complex projects, and will therefore require previous experience in Nuclear, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Defence, Pharmaceutical, or Life Science projects.This position is prodominatly remote, and only requires the successful candidate to commute to one of the 3 locations once per week. Our client has a key focus on providing sustainable solutions in the Aviation, Defense, Life Science, Nuclear and Power sectors.The key responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing and managing projects.
  • Leading the design of the mechanical building systems, including air conditioning, heating, natural and mechanical ventilation and building controls.
  • Leading the development of sustainable energy strategies for buildings.
  • Formation of budget cost reports.
  • Development of room data requirements, plant and zoning strategies and Builders Work requirements.
  • Liaising with clients and developing strong relationships.
Essential skills, experience and attributes:
  • Degree qualified in Mechanical or HVAC Engineering, ideally to Masters level.
  • Membership of a professional organisation e.g. CIBSE.
  • Extensive experience of mechanical building design across a range of projects, specifically Healthcare, Education or Commercial experience.
  • Knowledge of sustainable building design and regulations.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Good understanding of software including Excel, IES/TAS and Revit.
  • Excellent communications skills both written and verbal.
  • Previous experience in MOD, MOJ, Pharmaceutical, Life Science, Aviation or rail projects.
  • Security clearance (BPSS/SC/DV) highly beneficial but not compulsory.
Due to the nature of the projects to apply for this position, candidates must be:
  • Eligible to live and work in the UK without visa restrictions.
  • Hold a British Passport / British Citizenship.
  • Have lived in the UK for the last 5 years.
