This is a role in the TRM (Trading Risk Management) department. The TRM Risk department is a team of approximately 70 people supporting a wide area of businesses within Financial Markets, Group Treasury and Lending Services.The departments core activities are measuring and analysing market risk and trading performance across a variety of financial products. The role of the department is as a second line of defence being business partner to the Front Office (FO), providingchallenge and support.Candidate ProfileQualification/EducationEssential: University Degree (2:1 or above) in a quantitative field, preferably (financial) mathematics, engineering, physics or econometricsDesirable: Professional qualification (e.g. PRM, FRM)Experience/KnowledgeEssential:3+ years of experience in the financial industryExperience in market risk management and/or product controlPrevious experience of risk management of commodities business.Desirable:Experience working on regulatory change. FRTB, TRIM, Interaction with RegulatorsExperience of using SophisExperience in market data and associated challenges for Commodities In-depth product knowledge of Commodities, Commodity derivatives, and associated pricing modelsStrong technical skills in SQL, VBA and PythonPersonal CompetenciesEssential:Excellent analytical and problem-solving skillsGood communicator with attention to detail, pro-active, autonomous as well as ability to summariseStrong team player with ability to work successfully with cross-functional, geographically dispersed teamsAbility to work with FO and understand the business perspective of key projectsFlexible approach to role and responsibilitiesAbility to manage multiple tasks at the same time Comfortable working with complex technical processes and analysis of large data setsMain Duties and Responsibilities of Role:The responsibilities for the role are:* Monitoring, analysing and reporting the organisations market risk exposure on a day-to-day and long-term basis for the Commodities desk* Closely follow market developments and analyse both the realised and potential impact on the trading portfolio* Continuously engaging with Front Office to keep up to date with their trading strategy, challenging where appropriate on limit breaches, pricing and strategy* Monitoring trading limits and reviewing transactions over the established limits* Production and in-depth analysis of daily and longer-term profit and loss (P&L)* Understanding and explaining the content of the reporting to Front Office and senior management* Supporting the business by providing pro-active risk and P&L advice to aid business management* Execution of the global valuation adjustment framework for the Commodity asset class* Improve the desk processes, looking for opportunities to increase efficiency and enhance the control framework* Involvement in local and global projects to implement changes in systems and regulations* Comply with regulatory requirements* Contribute to development of risk management systems. * Maintain input or data quality of risk management systems.* Coordinate with the Global Market data team (GMDB), Trading Application Support, System Support and other teams to set up new market data sources and to help resolve market data-related issues.* Liaise with front office, auditors, finance, IT, market data team, operations and other teams.* Determine prudent valuation adjustments and model reserves as a result of uncertainty in market parameters and models
