The team offers a diverse range of legal skills, jurisdictional experienceand practice specialisms across all countries and territories in which our businesses operate.We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join this team in the role ofSenior Legal Counsel, Structured FinanceIn this role you will:

  • Provide legal advice and transaction management service to the GB Real Estate Finance business in London primarily to support the structuring and executive of real estate finance transations
  • Negotiate and review contractual documentation relating to real estate finance so as to manage documentation risk. Documentation to include term sheets, mandate/engagement letters, loan facility, intercreditor and ancillary documentation for cross-bordertransitions
  • Advise on effective structuring of transactions and review and analyse proposed structures/tax structure papers, demonstrating an in-depth knowledge of security, guarantee, leakage, subordination and intercreditor issues
  • Day to day liaison with business origination team and external counsel, and direct interaction with external clients. Suggest solutions that work well commercially and within the relevant legal framework
  • Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders, such as Global Banking senior management, Issuer Services, and other colleagues in Legal (London and global), Compliance, Credit and Tax
RequirementsTo be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:
  • Qualified Lawyer
  • Knowledge and experience of real estate, banking, corporate and securities law
  • Working knowledge of the laws in the major jurisdictions in which HSBC operates
  • Corporate experience and compliance experience an advantage, but not essential
  • Excellent communication, lateral thinking and problem-solving skills
