Job Description

Are you a senior homelessness expert with strong experience in project managementIm currently assisting one of my key local government clients in London who are trying to hire a Project Manager/Programme Manager on a temporary assignment for the next 6-12 months. You will be responsible for the delivery of strategic programmes and projectsacross the homelessness service ensuring all the interdependencies are managed and appropriate prioritisation is applied across all change projects and programmes.The post holder (who will be reporting directly into the Director of Housing Transformation) will be managing a programme of work around reshaping the Councils homelessness support offer as part of the small core Housing Transformation Programme Team. Thehomelessness work will include:

  • Establishing a Housing Sustainment Team (for early homelessness prevention) to be based in their new Family Hubs
  • Developing a cross referral system with Employment Business & Skills to support residents in temporary accommodation to increase their working hours and therefore avoid the benefit cap
  • Enhance our clients private rented sector advisory offer
  • Reintroduce face to face homelessness assessments as part of a hybrid model
  • Explore ways to respond to challenges around temporary accommodation supply and staff recruitment and retention within their Prevention and Assessment Team
  • Mapping and improving our clients interface with Social Care, especially in relation to intentionally homeless households with children
Our client currently has just under 1000 households in Temporary Accommodation but their numbers have been relatively stable compared with other parts of London.There is unlikely to be direct line management responsibility as part of this assignment. However the successful candidate might be matrix managing dispersed teams and possibly PMs and consultants. Our client envisages the placement to be 6 months in thefirst instance with the possibility to extend to one year.Only applicants who feel they meet the above criteria, are comfortable working hybridly in our clients London office and can start in early/mid May 2023 need apply.
