Job Description

Senior Health and Safety Advisor - Rail and Utilities vertical

  • Primarily Kent and London Based with UK Travel - access to office as required ( minx2 per week post COVID)
  • Salary £40k - £65K with company vehicle, pension and holiday
  • A recognised leader in the Security and Electrical systems market specialising in the rail and utility vertical is currently looking for a qualified Senior Health and Safety Advisor to join an existing QSHE team. The role will be to support the H&S Manager to advise and to direct staff undertaking installation, maintenance, and renewals work, to ensure that all works are carried out safely and to the correct standards for NETWORK RAIL, National Grid, UK Power Networks and Thames Water in accordance with current standards to the contract specificationResponsibilities -
  • Reporting to a Health and safety manager and being part of a QSHE team
  • Visiting various sites dealing with daily health and safety duties including:
  • Support the Health and Safety Manager with implementing the Group’s Health and Safety Policy and ethos
  • Assist in the development of a positive Health and Safety culture throughout the entire business
  • Provide competent advice to site staff
  • Writing Safe Systems of Work
  • Developing and delivering Toolbox Talks
  • Supporting with 3rd Party Audits
  • Undertaking site inspections and audits
  • Attend project meetings
  • Setting a good example
  • Assisting the Project Management Team in the safe delivery of projects
  • Any other duties appropriate to this role
  • Candidate -This requirement is immediate and the role would be permanent for the right candidate.
  • To be considered for this role, applicants will need to match to following criteria:
  • Experience in construction as a health and safety advisor
  • Understanding of Technology installations
  • Good communication and organisation skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to positively influence at all levels
  • IT Literate in Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Evidence of working to tight deadlines
  • A strong desire to progress personally and professionally
  • Essential - NEBOSH Construction/General Certificate working towards GradIOSH
  • Appropriate qualifications -
    1. Qualifications NEBOSH Construction Certificate,
    2. NVQ in Occupational Health and Safety 3,4 or 5
    3. IOSH Membership: TechIOSH, GradIOSH, AIIRSM, MIIRSM
