JOB AD:Senior Hardware Test EngineerLondon£40,000 - £60,000 (Dependent on Experience)A client based in London is looking for a candidate to join the hardware team as a dedicated development test engineer to take ownership of the board and module sub-assembly characterization and production test activities. The successful candidate will work closely with the design and operations teams to deliver fully released production test solutions ready to support the scale up of hardware procurement while developing knowledge that can be applied to future product releases. The role will require a self-motivated engineer who has a strong background in the testing of digital, analogue and RF PCB sub-assemblies while managing other key stakeholders when working to support deliverables as a wider team.Technical Responsibilities:Take time to understand the current characterisation and production test specifications for Digital, Analogue and RF PCB assemblies and subsequent module sub-assembliesTake ownership of the board characterisation and commissioning tests for recent low volume PCB builds to deliver tested boards into the product development teamsAssess the suitability of the supporting test hardware, recommend improvements, and take ownership of the test hardware development, delivering test jigs for low volume production runsAutomate, where possible, board commissioning tests. Assess expected test times for boards and module assemblies and work to optimise assembly and integration test activitiesUpdate and release technical production test specifications and test logs to support traceability at product levelreturnsQualifications & Skills:Educated to degree or HND level in a relevant subject area such as Electronics/Electrical EngineeringAt least 3 years experience in a production development environment with a history of hands on testing of PCB and electronic sub-assemblies or leading-edge electronic componentsA good background understanding of MCU based subsystems and RF fundamentals with experience in capturing, documenting and analysing test results as part of performance characterisation. Sufficient understanding of hardware functions and following schematicsCapable of reading and understanding design specifications, test requirements and schematics with a view to subsequently developing tests suitable for capturing board performance metricsGood hands on experience in the operation and use of LAB test equipment such as DVMs, Counters, RF signal generators, spectrum analysers, MXAs, oscilloscopes and network analysersKnowledge of Boundary Scan (JTAG) test development and debug for MCU programming, connectivity testing and functional test of PCB Assemblies (SPI Flash, I2C peripherals, etc).Understanding of common interface standards - Ethernet, TCP/IP, USB, SPI, I2C, RS232Strong written and verbal communication skills and capable of producing high quality test specs, reports, and analysis documents. Able to present findings on paper and to wider stakeholdersMotivated by teamwork with the capability of providing technical leadershipA history of defining and/or delivering process improvement within an engineering settingPractical with good problem-solving capabilities and able to adapt to fast moving environmentsProblem analysis and problem solving of combinations of hardware, firmware, and GUIsPractical understanding of Measure System Analysis
