Job Description

Job Title: Senior EcologistSalary: £35,000 - £45,000Location: Glasgow, Abingdon, Birmingham, Manchester, Cambridge, Southampton and Wales.Penguin Recruitment are working with a leading environmental consultancy who are looking for a Senior Ecologist to join their Ecology Division. The position is based full time from one of their offices such as Glasgow, Abingdon, Birmingham, Manchester, Cambridge,Southampton and Wales.The Senior Ecologist Position offers:

This is a chance to join a leading global, multi-disciplinary consultancy who specialise in all areas of the built and natural environment, shaping the future of our environmental, social and economic landscapes. They deliver master planning inputs, ecologicalappraisals, ornithological surveys and studies, other protected species surveys, mitigation design and construction and post-construction supervision and monitoring.To be successful you must have:
  • Full membership of CIEEM and have a degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject.
  • Established ecological consultant with extensive project management experience and have worked in consultancy.
  • Youll be an experienced EPS licensed consultant (Class 1 or preferably 2 bat or other species) and have full knowledge of UK and EU Wildlife Legislation and best practice survey techniques
  • Good time and project management skills are a must as are sound influencing and communication skills that enable you to build, maintain and consolidate working relationships with colleagues, clients and external bodies.
Your main duties will be:
  • Youll be planning and undertaking habitat surveys, supervising field staff and survey effort to identify indicator plant species and habitat types.
  • Write and deliver EcIA, ES chapter, inputting into HRA reports, providing some ecological inputs into supporting examination in public and/or the appeals process under supervision and inputting into design teams on green Infrastructure.
  • BNG and strategic ecological inputs to the masterplanning process.
  • There will be travel involved so you will need to have a full UK driving licence.
