Job Description

Senior Design Manager£48,805 per annum 6 Month Fixed Term Contract (Short Term Cover)Role SummaryWe are looking for a talented individual to join the innovative Design Team at LLDC and to assist at all stages of projects connected to the London 2012 legacy, from the preparation of design briefs and feasibility studies to the delivery of projects on site. The innovative role includes providing specialist architectural and urban design advice to both internal project teams and external agencies and stakeholders. We are also looking for an individual with experience of design management and will proactively contribute to the delivery of complex projects. The position would suit a registered architect/urban designer or an individual with a design background who has an interest in regeneration and in the process of creating new, mixed use, high quality urban neighbourhoods. This is a six month fixed term contract to cover for an existing employee. We would keenly consider a secondment from local authority and GLA family applicants.This exciting role will involve the proactive management of consultants and stakeholders; ensuring that allocated project budgets and programmes are managed and delivered effectively. You will also be required to provide contributions to high quality reports, research, briefings and feasibility studies.The PersonKnowledge and Experience

  • Demonstrable practical experience of successfully implementing and managing multiple, complex design projects through their complete lifecycle i.e. RIBA Stages 0-7.
  • Chartered professional with relevant qualificationsis desirable
  • Professional experience of both architecture and urban design and a strong knowledge of master planning, housing and public realm
  • Good knowledge of both planning and public-sector procurement processes is desirable though not essential.
  • Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent free hand and computer draught/modelling skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; with good relationship management, negotiation and presentation abilities.
  • Ability to read drawings/technical building information and understand their implications for a project/design and construction delivery to make considered recommendations.
  • Organised, self motivated problem solver and a design quality champion for the corporation.
