Job Description

Senior Data EngineerAs a Senior Data Engineer, you will be a key, hands-on, technical contributor to all phases of building out our cloud-based, distributed, data-processing system which - over the next few years - will grow to handle millions of users. You will also be closely involved with the company’s strategy of utilizing Cloud-based data solutions to organize, analyze and utilize the rapidly growing volume of data that we are collecting.You will be responsible for:

  • Building a scalable, high-availability, geo-redundant data platform that will be initially used by our web/mobile applications and subsequently by our data analytics and insights technologies.
  • Designing data models and consistently maintaining data quality
  • Substantially contributing to the design and implementation of our enterprise Cloud data architecture strategy
  • Working with all stakeholders across the business to understand their current and future data requirements.
  • Processing and managing high-volume real-time streams of data.
  • Assisting in proof of concept and production solutions for technologies including Cloud, Apache data technologies and bespoke software
    • Key Skills Experience Required:
  • 5+ years of experience of enterprise Data Platform delivery
  • 4+ years of experience in Administration/Engineering/Architecture
  • 4+ years hands-on experience and in-depth understanding of Azure data technologies including Azure SQL, Cosmos, Stream Analytics, Data Lakes and Data Factories.
  • In-depth experience of delivering data technology to 500K+ platform users.
  • Previous employment in a scaled, fast-paced startup environment
  • In-depth experience working with and designing schems for both SQL and NOSQL databases including Cosmos, MySQL, Azure SQL, Mongo/Atlas
  • Proficiency in architecting and building scalable cloud data solutions.
  • Previous responsibility for the development of proof of concept and production data solutions
  • Proficiency working with structured, semi-structured and unstructured data sets including social, web logs and real time streaming data feeds.
  • Knowledge of reporting BI tools such as PowerBI or Tableau
  • Good experience of JavaScript, Node and Typescript
  • Comfortable working in an Agile and Scrum Methodology environment
  • It will be a great advantage to have experience with Apache technologies such as Hadoop, Hive, Kafka and Presto
