Job Description

The Parliamentary Digital Service (PDS) works with the House of Commons, the House of Lords, and Parliament staff on their IT and digital needs.At the Parliamentary Digital Service, were transforming the way Parliament does digital. Were responsible for the digital output of all parliamentary services. We think its important that everyone can access and understand whats going on in Parliament. Our goal is to bring together the public, Parliament Members, and Parliamentary staff to inform, engage, support, and communicate through one, unified digital core - PDS.THE ROLE:To be part of a Blue team at Parliament and to help mature the teams analysis and investigation capabilities. The team has assurance and advisory responsibilities and so the candidate must have a broad understanding of a wide variety of technologies. Securing agile development workflows and advising on cloud security configurations to secure and monitor those environments is a large part of the role.You will be responsible for performing investigations into intrusion incidents and some police matters. You will need to be proficient in security and networking concepts, including cloud security principles and security monitoring. You must be an excellent communicator and stay up to date with industry. The correct candidate must be driven to improve their own skills and stay up to date with new technology.We are currently looking for candidates who have:

  • Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills with proven ability to explain technical issues to non-technical people.
  • A systematic and analytical approach to problem solving with the ability to communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience of working with SIEM/agent monitoring tools, correlating logs and using analytical techniques to perform investigations.
  • Able to Identify indicators of compromise and translate them into rules which detect other threats across the network, in a variety of different ways.
  • Experience of using threat hunting concepts and a broad knowledge of OSINT tools and how to string different data sets together to further an investigation.
