Senior Compliance Officer - Global Re/insurance broker

Job Description

Due to continued growth, our client a global specialist re/insurance broker, are seeking an experienced compliance professional to join their UK compliance team. This is a newly created role which will provide pro-active compliance support to theirUK insurance broking business. This is a second line responsibility for all compliance matters affecting our business and operations -Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Pro-actively support Chief Risk and Compliance Officer and Partner - UK Compliance in overseeing and managing of overall compliance frameworks for the Group but with particular focus on the UK.
  • Oversee the work of a compliance analyst and future compliance hires whilst also supporting their development.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining the compliance processes, frameworks and programmes to ensure organisational compliance and embedding of regulatory and policy requirements.
  • Provide operational, technical and administrative support with regard to the above and support with ad-hoc projects as and when required.
  • Keep abreast of regulatory and legislative changes and support the development and implementation of any new procedures, systems and controls
  • As required, undertake necessary data gathering, report preparation and development of systems and processes to support the function and the wider business.
  • Build relationships and work closely with the first line broking teams, operational teams and legal by answering compliance queries on a timely basis (e.g. business partnering role)
  • Support risk and compliance reviews and assist with monitoring of the effectiveness of internal policies, procedures and controls.
  • Co-ordinate responses from FCA with regard to any regulatory requests from time to time and oversee the preparation for filing the RMAR.
  • Co-ordinate responses for external audit and internal audit reviews with regard to any risk and compliance requests.
  • Support the annual review of policies and procedures by policy owners.
  • Support in roll-out of compliance training for the business.
  • Assist in development and administration of annual compliance plan.
  • Assist in collation of the quarterly board, ExCo and other reporting packs.
  • Oversee the management of breaches including timely reporting, root cause analysis and timely close-down of breaches
  • Oversee the management of other compliance registers such as conflicts of interest and gifts, entertainment and hospitality
  • Oversee the close down of actions from compliance and/or internal audit reviews
  • Oversee the maintenance of overseas licences and registrations and support in any new application submissions
  • Actively understand and comply with our regulatory, risk management framework and operational requirements.
  • As required, participation on/membership of relevant committees and/or wider Group.
Skills and Experience required:
  • Experience working in the insurance industry in a compliance role
  • Knowledge of regulatory topics such as SMCR, bribery & corruption, sanctions, licensing, AML, KYC, product governance, conduct risk and general UK regulatory matters
  • Ability to interact with ease with the first line broking teams, operations, senior stakeholders and all levels of the business
  • Strong drive and resilience under pressure and ability to work independently
