Job Description

Senior Claims Examiner (9 Month FTC)LondonCirca £65,000 (Negotiable)Role SummaryAssisting the Property & Energy Claims team during a busy period, the successful candidate will investigate and effectively handle complex Property and Energy claims, working within specific authority limits on assignments which require significant technical complexity and coordination.This is a 9 month fixed term contract position, and whilst initially home based, the role will be based in the companys London office post pandemic if/when applicable.Key Responsibilities

  • Managing a portfolio of Property and Energy claims with limited supervision, ranging in complexity with a particular focus on Property, written on both the Syndicate and Company platforms.
  • Interpreting more complex or unusual policy coverages and determining if coverages apply to claims submitted.
  • Coordinating and performing investigations, and evaluating claims through contact with insureds, brokers, business partners and experts.
  • Liaising with solicitors, customers, brokers, experts and insureds to develop a focused strategy for effective resolution of more complex claims.
  • Setting appropriate reserves in line with the companys reserving philosophy, and authorising payments within scope of authority.
  • Ensuring large and significant claims are identified at an early stage, notifying management as needed.
  • Providing guidance, assistance and mentoring to less experienced claims staff and other function areas.
  • Utilises negotiation skills to develop complex settlement packages.
  • Identifying claims with third party recovery potential and coordinates with the subrogation / salvage unit.
  • Analysing claims activities, and preparing / presenting reports for management.
  • Requirements
  • Strong claims handling experience, ideally with a focus on Property and Energy.
  • Experience in Treaty, Mining, Property D&F and Open Market is essential, whilst experience in Renewable Energy and Power Generation is preferred.
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and communication skills, including the ability to successfully interact with both internal and external business partners.
  • Ability to handle claims with a proactive long-term view of business goals and objectives.
  • Ability to assess the merits of claims as well as evaluating claims based on a cost benefit analysis.
