Job Description

Context for the role:

  • Our team play an important role in making sure everyone at M&G is crystal clear on what were aiming to achieve together, how we want to do it, and what their part is in making it happen. A big part of that is about how we communicate our change story,and the way in which we take colleagues with us as we transform our business together;
  • Thats where you come in. Youll build and deliver the narrative around Wealths ambitious growth plans, and to create the engagement and delivery plan to make sure colleagues, advisers and clients understand whats happening, when its happening, and whatit means for them;
  • You wont do that alone. Youll report directly into the Head of Internal Communications, and work with our Wealth CEO, Executive Leadership team, Strategy & Implementation team and Wealths Internal Communications Business Partner to agree the best wayto inform and inspire colleagues and advisors about whats ahead of us; and
  • In terms of our Internal Communications team, were part of the Corporate Affairs & Brand function, which has a seat on M&Gs Group Executive Committee. Together, were eight people trying to do some exciting things that shape how we engage and communicatewith people at M&G.
Some of the things youll get to do:
  • Tell our story - youll work at pace with key stakeholders (those mentioned above) to understand and articulate our business strategy across the function, and set out how this helps to drive M&Gs growth, simplification and financial ambitions, andsupports our advisors and clients in a positive and engaging way;
  • Deliver key change communication set pieces - as part of our ambitious change agenda, youll take the lead on a number of related set piece projects, where youll need to help colleagues understand what were doing, why were doing it, and what thejourney will look like for them along the way. Thats about being creative, clear, and experienced in delivering effective change communications;
  • Create a clear and effective communications approach - youll work closely with our Wealth Internal Communications Business Partner to agree a communications framework and approach that helps us build a great place to work, and sets yourself andyour leadership teams up for success;
  • Build the transformation communication capability in our team - while your role will primarily focus on supporting our Wealth business, there may be a requirement to support other areas of our business with their transformation comms. Youll playan important role as our change comms expert in developing toolkits, guides and expertise that support the broader change agenda at M&G, and help us become a more effective function at guiding our colleagues and business through periods of transformation;and
  • Have great relationships - youll forge tight relationships with a number of key people across our business - whether thats members of our Group Executive Committee (like our Wealth CEO and our Corporate Affairs Director), members of our InternalComms team, our External Communications team, our HR team, Wealth Strategy Implementation team, or the 1,300+ people in our Wealth business who youll be supporting.
Some of the skills and experience youll need:
  • A track record of delivering clear and compelling change communications as part of complex transformation programmes within the Wealth or broader Financial Services industry (with experience of working in a regulated/intermediated industry). Ideallyyoull be able to back that up with relevant change management qualifications... but its not a deal-breaker if not;
  • Strong influencing and stakeholder management skills that help you lead and challenge in conversations at an executive level, given your close relationship with our Wealth CEO and Executive team;
  • Experience of working on complex transformation programmes, and working closely with key stakeholders from across the business to deliver effective communication and engagement plans
  • A clear, methodical and logical planner, with an ability to manage multiple stakeholders and deadlines while communicating with absolute clarity;
  • A passion and ability for great writing and storytelling - with an ability to link different threads together, and ask the right questions to get the information you need to communicate effectively with colleagues;
  • Experience working in a broader communications environment - youll know when and how to engage with key stakeholders in our Corporate Affairs team, such as our media relations team, to make sure were effectively managing any reputational risk aspectsto our change plans, and joining up our communications delivery across the internal and external landscape, with our colleagues, advisors and clients front and centre of everything we do;
  • A reputation for getting stuff done - sometimes on your own, sometimes with our team, sometimes with people from across the business... but always to a high standard and on time; and
  • An eagerness to be part of a high performing team by learning, developing and sharing best practice across our function - contributing to the high challenge, high support environment that we need to deliver for our business at pace.
