Job Description

Morgan Hunt are currently working with a Professional Regulatory Body, in their search for a permanent Senior Case Officer to manage and investigate their own case load as well as management of the hearings process.You will be responsible for investigating cases and taking them through to a conclusion either at a hearing or preparing recommendations and reports to conclude the investigation. This will involve the gathering, analysis and preparation of evidence, draftingnotices and determinations, decision-making as well as managing the hearings process.You will support the team while contributing to the organisations business plans and strategy, continuous improvement activities and quality assurance systems.The successful applicant will be a Qualified solicitor, barrister or FCILEX in England and Wales or the equivalent in a foreign common law jurisdiction. You will have experience within investigation and managing the hearings process (ideally within PublicLaw, Regulation or Criminal Law). You will have strong decision making, drafting and communication skills with a practical approach.Job Title: Senior Case OfficerLocation: Hybrid (Remote & London Office)Annual Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 (inclusive of benefits allowance)Job Type: Fixed Term Contract (Up to 12 months)Hours: Full-timeKey Responsibilities

  • Take responsibility for the investigation of potential breaches of regulatory code of conduct within the specific profession, including in the most legally and factually complex
  • Autonomous, proactive decision making in the enforcement process
  • Ensure that decisions are in line with published KPIs, and are consistent and reflect the agreed decision-making criteria, regulations and policies and procedures
  • Identify, raise and take action in relation to issues arising from the work including submitting written reports where appropriate
  • Assist other members of the Team, by providing advice and support
  • Take individual regulatory decisions on enforcement and discipline matters
  • Contribute to ensuring that all policies and procedures in relation to the work of the Team are up to date and relevant new policies or procedures are developed
  • Attend meetings and relevant Working Groups as required including "out of hours" working
  • Liaise with and assist the Legal Support Team in the conduct of litigation arising from issues related to the work of the Team
  • Provide insight into shaping the strategic and business plans, enabling the activities within the Team to be accounted for and feed into strategic priorities
  • Ensure the continuous improvement system for regulatory decision-making is maintained and learning points are captured, monitored and actioned
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of quality assurance systems
  • Where appropriate, lead on projects directly related to the work of Investigations and Enforcement Team
  • Engage with, and develop, constructive external relationships with those involved in the investigations and Enforcement process
Personal Specification
  • Qualified solicitor, barrister or FCILEX in England and Wales or the equivalent in a foreign common law jurisdiction (must be entitled to hold a practising certificate)
  • Experience investigating, handling and decision making on own caseload
  • Experience drafting a range of decisions and notices
  • Ability to analyse and summaries large amounts of complex data and information
  • Experience within legal procedures and/or litigation and investigation
  • Experience managing the Tribunal process, with knowledge of regulatory procedures
  • IT literate (MS-Suite and Case Management Systems)
  • Good decision making skills
  • Strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to self-motivate and work independently to changing priorities
