Our in-house systems process every learner from registration to marking and certification,in a highly regulated business. We currently operate a hybrid estate of predominantly bespoke systems, with an ongoing strategic transformation programme to migrate from on-prem to cloud based, cost effective, scalable and resilient services.About the jobThe position is for a Business Data Analyst that has experience of working with large data focused projects, and who is responsible the analysis of data sets and mapping. Currently we are in the middle of a large programme to transform a legacy estate toAWS, and therefore there is a lot of data discoverymapping required to accomplish this; there will however be other projects coming along with a broader outlook, so being adaptable and open to learning new skills is essential.This role involves working with business SMEs, product owners, architects, and developers etc to discover data and enable the optimal data pattern for each project to be established, hence excellent communication and analysis skills are required. Therewill also be attendance to various senior stakeholder meetings to explain data sets, so good communication & planning skills are essential, with the ability to put things into non-technical terms for the wider audience.About youThis would suit a business analyst with a background in complex data transformation projects, from legacy to cloud preferably, and who is looking to work on fast moving projects. A proven track record in delivering projects is required.Key Skills & Experience

  • Expert knowledge of business data analysis processes in complex application architecture platforms
  • Excellent research and analytic skills
  • Versed in functional/non-functional requirements gathering and definition
  • At ease working with as well as interface between delivery / technical and non-technical professionals, with the ability to turn complex concepts into simple language
  • Apt at collating key information about data sources for prioritisation according to business value
  • Proficient in data mapping with understanding of data modelling principles (can read ERDs)
  • Experience with data cataloguing using data dictionaries and data lineage, establishing relevant business rules, taxonomy, logic, and flows
  • Experience working with Data in large-scale data environments, working with product management, product owners, data architects, business stakeholders
  • Experience working with Integration / Ingestions of data sources into a Data Lake / Data Platforms
  • Database - MySQL, SQL Server, OracleGood understanding of table structures/key joins
  • SQL to interrogate and analyse data
  • Good standard of user story mapping/writing
  • Versed in Agile (Scrum/Kanban)
  • Strong stakeholder management and formal communication skills (spoken, written, documentation, presentation) with excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent organisational skills, proactive, self-starter with a curious approach to data and its value

The role is aligned to either our Rotherham or central London offices. Our Rotherham office is located at Junction 1 of the M18, making it commutable from Sheffield, Leeds, Doncaster, Derby or Nottingham.We have worked from home throughout the pandemic, but will adopt hybrid working once national restrictions are lifted; for this role that means visiting your base office no more than once a week with the possibility of occasional travel to other Pearsonsites, however, adjustments to this due to personal circumstances & preferences are possible.We work a 37.5 hour week, with all our team free to flex their day around our core hours, which are Monday to Friday, 10 to 4 GMT/BST. School runs, etc can be accommodated. Other flexible working patterns can be considered, including part-time working andnon-traditional hours.
