Job Description

Role location: This is a hybrid home/office working position, with attendance at our Oxford or London office locations dependant on business needs.About the roleThis is a senior role in the Pearson School Qualifications Brand Marketing Team with responsibility for driving our strategic brand aims through the Partnerships and Events channels.Working with the Brand and Portfolio Marketing Teams, the post holder will:

  • Drive revenue growth, customer engagement, sentiment and advocacy, devising and executing brand marketing initiatives to help connect with our customers across all of the PSQ Marketing Events programme.
  • Work closely with the Head of Brand & Portfolio Marketing to develop, maintain and implement a successful partnerships strategy, harnessing these relationships for growth, and creating a strategic framework for how to approach, monitor & report on them.
  • Plan and deliver high quality engagement and attendance at a range of 3rd Party and Pearson led conferences and eventsthese will be both in-person and online and may include exhibitions, speaking slots, round tables, workshops, conferences and award ceremonies.
  • Have line management responsibility for - and be supported by - the Senior Marketing Executive (Events and Partnerships) .
Working with the Performance Marketing Team, the post holder will:
  • Oversee the event strategy for those events specifically designed to drive lead generation and revenue.
  • Have line management responsibility for the Performance Marketing Events Executive, who will plan and deliver this events programme.
Key responsibilities:
  • Lead the areas/channels associated with the role, developing strategic thinking and ensuring the development and execution of associated activity to the highest standards.
  • Drive the review and update of this regularly in response to performance and customer & business needs.
  • Manage internal and external stakeholders to deliver the event programme, from the initial briefing stage from the stakeholder, to delivery and evaluation, ensuring regular updates to the senior team and project groups, maintaining status reports, measuringimpact and ROI on the events programme and making recommendations to inform future event planning.
  • Own and disseminate the event planning process across the PSQ Marketing Team, seeking improvements at all times to drive efficiencies.
  • Monitor, report on & analyse KPIs for all events to maximise return on investment.
  • Direct line management for two Marketing Executives (Events) in the team.
  • In conjunction with our Sales and Product colleagues, develop, implement and maintain relationships with strategic partners, harnessing these relationships for growth, and creating a strategic framework for how to approach, monitor & report on them.
  • Collaborate with partners to understand their own areas of expertise and to develop high impact shared initiatives with them through activities and contributions such as research panels, events, blogs and podcasts.
  • Management of the Events & Partnerships budget.
  • Identify and monitor competitor events and alternative ways in the market where we can accumulate information, market knowledge, and develop relationships.
Skills & experience
  • Broad strategic understanding of the customer types that our strategies and activities are trying to reach, knowing how best to engage them and identify opportunities for growth.
  • Extensive experience and understanding of the mechanics of in-person/digital event marketing coordination & execution including B2B trade shows/conferences, webinars and roundtables.
  • Accomplished project management skills, with a solid understanding of the processes involved in delivering events, developing and maintaining project plans to ensure each event is delivered on time taking into account internal processes and SLAS and flexingtimelines as required.
  • Managing and owning webinar platform technology (eg: Zoom) incl. building and running events.
  • Relationships and contract negotiations in conjunction with procurement with 3rd party suppliers, including production and AV companies, venues, caterers and other agencies.
  • Be comfortable talking to customers, seeking insights to support future activity, building strong and long-lasting relationships with external stakeholders and partners.
  • Be a great communicator, both written and verbal, and a team player, building trust and confidence with all stakeholders.
  • Have the ability to negotiate effectively with senior managers providing solutions and managing change.
  • Use the events that you deliver to create high quality content for marketing use.
  • Manage and own relationships and contract negotiations in conjunction with the procurement team for any with 3rd party suppliers, including production and AV companies, venues, caterers, designers and other agencies.
  • Be available to attend in person events in the UK when required.
  • Ability to assess budgets, project teams and resources to ensure the project can be delivered to meet the objectives and KPIs within the timeframe.
  • Experience in troubleshooting, offering practical solutions should any problems arise.
  • A true self-starter. Uses initiative at all times, combining strong project management skills with analytical abilities to take on new opportunities and tough challenges with passion and enthusiasm.
