We cover all disciplines in pathology including allergy, biochemistryand endocrinology, haematology and blood transfusion, histopathology and cytology, immunology, and microbiology and serology, with each laboratory equipped with the best available analytical instrumentation.About the RoleWe have a brilliant opportunity for a Senior Biomedical Scientist (Training Officer) in Cellular Pathology DepartmentCytology. The candidate must be registered with the HCPC as a Specialist Biomedical Scientist, with experience in working in a busy laboratorywith some experience or a passion for Training.The role requires routine Cytology duties with more complexinvestigations/analysisrequired.The post holder will supervise and perform duties as part of the Cytology Laboratory Team and report to the Cytology Deputy Section Head. Key roles: training, plan & organise clinics, liaise with clinicians & pathologists, problem solve, ensure turnaroundtimes and quality assurance. The candidate will participate in the weekly rotation of laboratory areas including: Gynae, Non Gynae, HPV/CHL/GON testing, Quality Control, Results entry and Authorisation, Referrals and FNA clinics attendance.This post requires working shifts (Mon-Fri) and Saturday shift on rotation, as required. The candidates must have excellent interpersonal and organisational skills and be able to work extended periods of concentration to deliver a high-quality service.Main Duties and ResponsibilitiesPerform timely and accurate processing of samples and perform Cytology laboratory techniques in accordance with departmental approved SOPs.The use of skills, theory of Cytology, and knowledge to provide a high quality and effective Cytopathology laboratory service.Be responsible for running the section and any delegated tasks involved in the day-to-day organisation and delivery of a clinical pathology service with high standards of patient care.To lead & assist all staff in maintaining high scientific and quality standards within the Cytology section and in accordance with Health & Safety regulations and UKAS 15189 standard.Skills & ExperienceRegistered Specialist Biomedical Scientist in Cytopathology with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)Hold evidence of, and continue to demonstrate continual personal/professional development ensuring up-to-date knowledge and working to high professional standards.Hold an IBMS Specialist Portfolio in Cytopathology/Cellular pathology.Have experience in Training and leading a team.Previous experience working in a busy diagnostic laboratory.Able to lead a team, adaptable to change and able to perform to meet tight deadlines.About the IndividualAt HCA UK we recognise and value everyone as unique and individual; treat people with kindness and compassion; act with absolute honesty, integrity, and fairness and trust and treat one another as valued members of the HCA UK family.
