Job Description

Lucy A. Raymond and Sons Ltd is a Reinsurance Broker specialized in Reinsurance Property business that works with Latin American clients and through the territory. Our current portfolio includes more than 160 active Direct/Reinsurance Brokers, Ceding Companies multinationals with regional interest in accounts including but not limited to All Risk Property Damage, Construction and Erection All-Risk, Construction Property Equipment, and Terrorism Compliance.Job descriptionThe role is for a track proven record of dealing in the region as a senior broking practitioner with managerial skills with the capacity to seek new markets and additional capacities in Lloyds of London and the International Market .Utmost integrity and excellent interpersonal skills are a must to liaise with different underwriters and internal departments to make sure processing of the business meet client’s expectations. The person needs to have personal commitment to developing further by keeps abreast of any changes to the reinsurance market and regulation. Additionally, provides guidance to his team, on the most complex Reinsurance programmes and forms an active part of the management to discuss future strategies to meet with Company objectives. The main duties and responsibilities of the role are:

  • Bring new business by expanding our portfolio of existing clients and increasing the brokerage income on the existing ones in Latin America.
  • Be the main point of contact with assigned portfolio of Brokers/Cedent companies in Latin-American.
  • Analyse, translate, and prepare the documentation and supporting information sent by the clients to negotiate with to the clients/underwriters both in Spanish and English.
  • Technical and professional negotiations with reinsurance underwriters at Lloyds an International Reinsurance Markets to obtain the most suitable Reinsurance programmes in terms and conditions for our clients.
  • Handle the day to day client’s requirement both in English and Spanish (amendments, technical queries, quotes, telephone bilingual telephone calls.)
  • Ensure that the existing reinsurance programmes are renewed.
  • Build and maintain ongoing relationships with our Brokers. Cedents and underwriters.
  • Excellent understanding of London and the Latin American insurance market dynamics and core processes, with a minimum of 15 years obtained in Facultative Reinsurance and recognised as an ethical professional practitioner in the territory
  • Excellent understanding of Lloyds of London and international reinsurance on Material Property. Long established relationship an asset.
  • Excellent understanding and application of compliance and FCA regulation.
  • Keep detailed records and complete administrative tasks such as paperwork and correspondence.
    • The skills, experience and qualifications required for this job are:
  • Managing high profile reinsurance Property Accounts mainly in Latin America with an experience of minimum 15 years.
  • High customer service skills with capacity to bring together the Anglo-Saxon and the Latin business culture.
  • High Commercial ability.
  • Proven track record of performance in Latin America Markets.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (preferably Industrial Engineering, Administration Manager).
  • Good working under pressure and with ability to prioritise.
  • Attention to detail and report-writing skills in English and Spanish.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience of managing effective client relationship.
  • Excellent understanding and application of compliance and FCA regulation.
  • Demonstrate integrity and professionalism.
  • Ability to work well as part of a team
  • High negotiation skills in both languages with the ability to write and read complex reinsurance policies and technical expertise for each country in Latin America.
