Job Description

  • £130+ per day (negotiable depending on experience)

  • Location: Tower Hamlets
  • Based in Tower Hamlets, this SEN Teacher role is due to start in September and will involve working with an OUTSTANDING specialist provision for primary aged boys with social, emotional and mental health difficulties. Some students will have an additional diagnosis of ADD/ADHD, dyslexia and/or dyspraxia.The primary focus of this SEMH boys school is to support pupils to reintegrate into mainstream schooling. The school day starts at 8.50am and ends at 3.10pm. Students usually spend 90% of their time on site and the remaining time at a mainstream school in Tower Hamlets, with a view to building on that time if suitable.Pupils attend the school because their behavioural difficulties prevent them properly accessing the curriculum in a mainstream environment. The SEN Teacher will work with small class sizes, providing individualised support. The school works hard to offer quality education and training, providing an enriched, experiential and well-differentiated curriculum in order to meet the needs of every child.There are four classes, which cater for years 1 to year 6 offering education and training experiences in each curriculum area. The SEN Teacher will support pupils to identify and develop their personality, talents, abilities and aspirations, as well as meeting their special educational needs.Following the national curriculum for English and Maths, the KS1 and KS2 curriculum is delivered to pupils based on ability rather than age. The school also used the Power of Reading programme to enhance literacy and reading skills. For foundation subjects, the school uses the International Primary Curriculum as basis for teaching. This approach is flexible and easily adapted to the pupils interests and level of understanding. As with the core subjects each teacher will individualise lessons to engage pupils and deliver at an appropriate level.The school upholds a positive culture due to their strong values set which is based on respect, commitment, a culture of shared responsibility, the belief in every childs capacity to learn and improve, honesty, trust, and achievement.The SEN Teacher Role:
