Job Description

Security & Safety Officer - Retirement village / National Heritage - £28k to £29.5k + Excellent benefitsThis opportunity for a Security & Safety Officer, is based within a historic elderly care home / village, located within beautiful landscaped grounds, listed buildings and wonderful residents. They offer a complete village environment to its residents withamazing facilities and a full nursing care service. This is a permanent, full-time opportunity. As this is a well know organisation, which is also open to the public and the grounds offer various entertainment and interest to residents, private functions andthe general public, security and safety of the residents and organisation is paramount. This would be an ideal opportunity for someone who may be ex-military / ex-fources, or someone who has held a similar post within a similar customer/resident orientatedcompany.The Safety & Security Officer will be part of the Estates and Facilities department and will report directly to the Senior Estates and Facilities Manager (SEFM). They will provide a focal point for general enquires from the Public, Pensioners, Staff andResidents on Security and Safety matters. They will also assist in the delivery of H&S and Fire safety training and carry out safety and security auditsSALARY ETC:

  • £28k to £29.5k + excellent benefits

  • The hours are 41 per week working mainly between the hours of 0700 -1900hrs worked on a rota so will include weekend working (5 days out of 7).
REQUIREMENTS:
  • Experience of working in a a small team, in a similar role.
  • Experience or skills in fostering good relations with a security contractor or internal team, as well as various departments.
  • Either hold a training qualification or have equivalent experience. Must have SIA.
  • Have strong Organisational Skills, Ability to use Microsoft Office software
  • Confident with good interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in a H&S or Security related role
  • Have a basic understanding of H&S Legislation and processes.
  • Experience in delivering training to adults or have experience in a Military Instructor post
  • Have experience in managing information, buildings, and equipment, or / and A Health & Safety or Environmental Management qualification, or equivalent experience
  • Ideal, but not essential, if you have Personnel Management Experience from and Ex-Emergency Services or Military background, or to have experience in a similar role in a similar type of organisation.
DUTIES TO INCLUDE:
  • Ensure a daily presence on the entrance Gate Reception and provide a professional and polite focal point for all general enquiries.
  • Operate the switchboard, manage and monitor the CCTV, Facial Recognition and Nurse Call systems and direct responses to Alarm activations.
  • Deliver Fire awareness and safety training to employees as directed.
  • Deliver H&S training and carry out checks and audits as directed as part of the site safety management processes.
  • Access control, register visitors onto the Facial Recognition system.
  • Complete written reports following incidents or as required.
  • Direct liaison with Contracted site security manager for security related issues.
  • Control and manage the issue and storage of the site keys.
  • Responsible for the management and maintenance of the site entrances.
  • Manage and account for equipment issued to the Security Contractor.
  • Control parking and the issue of parking permits for the site.
  • Responsible for the quick and efficient dissemination of critical information to the Security Contractor and Management
