Job Description

Job Title: Science Teacher - Pupil Referral UnitLocation: Chingford, LondonWe are seeking a dedicated and passionate Science Teacher to join the team at a pupil referral unit based in Chingford. This school caters to students who require additional support in their learning due to their challenging behaviour. As a Science Teacher,you will have the opportunity to make a profound impact on the lives of these students by delivering engaging and inspiring science education.Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver high-quality science lessons, tailored to meet the specific needs of students with challenging behaviour.
  • Utilize innovative teaching strategies and resources to create a stimulating and inclusive learning environment.
  • Adapt teaching methods to accommodate individual learning styles, ensuring every student is fully engaged in the learning process.
  • Foster a supportive and nurturing classroom environment that promotes positive behaviour management and emotional well-being.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement individualized learning plans for students.
  • Regularly assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to support their academic and personal development.
  • Establish effective communication channels with parents/guardians to keep them informed about student progress and encourage their involvement in the learning process.
  • Participate in professional development activities to enhance your own knowledge and teaching skills.
Requirements:
  • Qualified teacher status (QTS) or equivalent, with a degree in a relevant scientific discipline.
  • Experience teaching science at the secondary level, preferably in a Pupil referral unit or special educational needs (SEN) setting.
  • A thorough understanding of the national curriculum for science, along with the ability to differentiate instruction to meet individual learning needs.
  • Strong classroom management skills, with the ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents/guardians, and colleagues.
  • A genuine passion for supporting the social, emotional, and academic development of students with SEMH or challenging behaviour.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the evolving needs of our students and school.
