Job Description

Together we are seeking to appoint a Science Teacher- applytoday!Job Title: Science TeacherHours: Monday, Tuesday and ThursdayLocation: East LondonIndustry: EducationLength of contract: Temporary - ongoingPayrate: £28 - £30/hrDetails: Applied Science L3 - Unit 7 and Unit 6 - biochemistry skills and science practical skills are necessaryRoles and Responsibilities:

  • Teach across all levels and abilities - L3 - Unit 7 and Unit 6
  • To assist and support colleagues in the department who may not be Science specialists
  • To identify and promote core learning skills and teaching strategies in their own subject and help to encourage best practice through support, advice and CDP opportunities.
  • To oversee the teaching of Science throughout the school and the implementation of the curriculum
  • To seek opportunities for pupils to engage in activities with other schools, competitions and challenges in Science supporting both pupil enhancement and raising of school profile
  • To raise the profile of Science across the school
  • Make sure that the classroom is a stimulating environment that facilitates learning
  • Generate enthusiasm for the subject being taught and inspire all students to work to their potential
Skills & experience
  • Appropriate degree, with UK PGCE, or other teaching qualification giving QTS
  • Familiarity with the national curriculum of England (Plus IGCSE/GCSE and/or A Levels as appropriate)
  • Biochemistry skills and science practical skills are necessary
  • Passion for teaching and commitment to educating a child
  • A high level of professionalism and consideration of the well-being of children
  • Recent and consistent involvement in extracurricular activities
  • Respect for all members of a school community, irrespective of position, gender, age and ethnic background
  • A positive and solution-focused attitude to working life
  • A clean enhanced Disclosure and Barring Services check or police check (for applicants who have never worked in UK) and no question regarding suitability to work with children
