There may also be requirement to assist with the work of other branches.Thesuccessful candidate is expected to have a degree of flexibility and ability to work between branches, as we believe in developing our staff across the range of skills OFSI can offer, and to help handle pressure points when they arise.Key responsibilitiesof the Compliance role will be to:Lead on investigative casework in relation to suspected sanctions breaches and decide the most appropriate compliance outcomes, working with the National Crime Agency where appropriate.Administer civil penalties for financialsanctions breaches, including the issuing of letters and fines.Provide clear and well-judged recommendations to support senior officials and Ministers in making decisions.Develop an understanding of the relevant international or domestic financial sanctionslegal framework. Apply this in advice to colleagues and Ministers, focusing on providing a timely and efficient service to HM Government, industry and the public on financial sanctions.You will also become a triage officer. On a monthly rota, you will be allocateda week in which you are responsible for the initial assessment and risk and severity rating of all compliance case referrals to OFSI (including self-disclosures from breachers, whistle-blowers, referrals from within OFSI and other government departments)Workcollaboratively with HM Treasurys Sanctions & Illicit Finance policy team and policy colleagues across Whitehall on regime implementation.Provide business support for the OFSI Intake and Assessment Team who answer queries on sanctions implementation and compliance,publish sanctions regime update notices, and lead on the annual frozen assets review.Act as a reporting lead - cross checking reporting against licences to ensure compliance with the licence permissions. Identify evidence of potential non-compliance and makeappropriate recommendations to case leads.Key responsibilities of the Compliance/Licensing role: In addition to the above listed responsibilities, you will also do the following:Carry out casework analysis and appropriate decision-making on licence applications.Correspond with external partners on specific cases. Provide clear and well-judged recommendations to support senior officials and Ministers in making decisions.Work closely with Treasury Legal Advisors on the licensing applications process, and to assessthe legal risk of granting licences.These roles are available in either London or Darlington.
