The OpportunityHere at QBE, we are currently looking to recruit a Rulebook Author. Rulebook is key underwriting rating engine used by Underwriters to price risks. This role is within a small expert team that ensures the Rulebook platform is effectively configured and maintainedto meet the needs and priorities of the underwriters and pricing actuaries. The role will be required to develop, test and deploy pricing models using standard best practice with respect to governance and source control as well as providing the pricing actuariesand underwriters with advice and guidance on how best to exploit the capabilities of the system. Your new role

  • Interpret the requirements of the Underwriting and Actuarial teams and translate those requirements into practical, efficient, and reusable Rulebook models.
  • Maintain accurate and up to date documentation of the Rulebook platform and the models that are implemented in the system.
  • Continuous maintenance of the tool and the models, as required (enhancements, bug fixing, tuning, etc.)
  • Support the IT team when new versions of the software are being deployed (providing advice, UAT support, etc.)
  • Assist in co-ordinating testing activity, ensuring activity is correctly planned, scheduled, and resourced and that test cycles are correctly implemented.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key internal stakeholders to ensure business needs are met.
  • Be aware of and always comply with QBEs policies.
  • Ensure continuing professional development is always up to date.
Preferred Competencies/Skills
  • University education with a strong mathematical, and/or computer science component
  • Experience of working with a formal software development lifecycle: specifically
    • Requirements gathering and analysis.
    • Software development
    • Testing processes
    • Release management
  • Experience in configuration of any platform using Python, xml, or C#.
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Expert in end user" tools - Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, visual basic macros, etc.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
