Job Description

Halliday Marx have partnered with an exciting Media Organisation to recruit a Royalties Business Finance Analyst on an interim 3 month contract.You will manage the delivery of the royalty accounting and reporting distribution activities to all rights holders and profit participants.Key responsibilities will include but not be limited too;

  • Manage the royalty processing for music sales across physical, digital and sub-licensing sales
  • Responsible for month-end reporting across the P&L, balance sheet and cash flow for the music group; effectively communicating results to both financial and non-financial stakeholders
  • Work with outsourced finance support team to manage month-end activities
  • Update and maintain the royalty recoupment tracker, working closely with the Commercial Director on the recoupment status of all licenses held
  • Ensure compliance with contractual accounting and reporting obligations with rights holders (artists, music labels, contributors, producers, music collection societies (MCPS, PPL and VPL) and all net participants)
  • Serve as key contact for all internal and external stakeholders ensuring the team is the primary point for all queries which should be dealt with appropriately and in a timely manner, building and maintaining collaborative internal and external relationships
  • Ensure adherence to the teams processes and controls and implement process improvements and efficiencies
  • Monitor performance using appropriate tools e.g. KPIs, and ensure targets are met and where possible exceeded
  • Support all audit processes, providing all requested documentation to enable audits to be completed within agreed timescales

  • Experience of royalty accounting and of "Record Maestro" or of similar royalty processing systems
  • Strong motivational and people management skills - an ability to delegate yet control critical tasks
  • Highly numerate
  • Ability to work under pressure in a changing environment
  • Excellent communication skills and understanding of customer service delivery
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Educated to degree level (or equivalent) and part-qualified accountant (desirable)
  • Demonstrable experience in understanding the complexities of royalty accounting
  • Working with an outsourced business process provider
  • Proven track record of process improvement
  • Experience of manually preparing complex royalty statements
