For furtherinformation about Nomura, visit www.nomura.comDepartment overview:The Risk Management Division encompasses the firms comprehensive risk framework responsible for determining and managing the overall risk appetite for the firm. The division is responsible for effectively managing the firms risk-return profile which ensuresthe efficient deployment of the firms capital. It is one of the firms core competencies and is independent of the trading areas and operational areas.Role & Responsibilities The Global Risk Model Performance Reporting Team is part of the Market Risk Methodology Department and is responsible for ensuring risk models are performing within acceptable thresholds. Risk Model Performance Reporting is centralised in London for allentities globally.

  • Supporting colleagues to run the regular SIMM (standard initial margin model) monitoring process, including daily and quarterly backtesting and along with other tests required.
  • Supporting Nomuras participation in the ISDA annual SIMM backtesting exercise.
  • Preparing and reviewing monthly and quarterly reports to senior management and global regulators.
  • Evaluating the SIMM model performance result and providing detailed analysis of exceptions and outliers by working with Front Office and risk quants teams.
  • Highlighting and escalating any material shortfalls in margin when required. Providing analysis to help Front Office remediate material shortfalls with counterparties.
  • Identify and solve issues, and highlight process weakness and recommend improvements when appropriate.
  • Ensure process is compliant with Nomuras governance framework and making sure process documentations are updated.
  • Working with IT and project teams to help improve process and develop new systems as needed.
  • Understand the latest regulatory development in SIMM and make sure internal practice is in compliance.
Skills, experience, qualifications and knowledge required:Essential
  • Experience either in Market risk or finance, or product control
  • Good understanding of financial products (bonds, equities, derivatives), and accounting/ risk management process around these.
  • Understanding of the concept of VaR.
  • Ability to solve problems with analytical mindset/approach
  • Knowledge of Python
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
Desirable
  • Good mathematical and finance background.
  • Experience in risk / finance / product control and familiar with processes in the area.
  • Knowledge of ISDA SIMM (standard initial margin model)
  • Knowledge about initial margin rules and experience in this area would be beneficial
  • FRM/PRM/CFA qualification would be added advantage.
  • Knowledge of SQL, VBA.
