Risk and Assuracne Committee Member - IT/ Cyber Secruity Vacancy Description The Risk and Assurance Committee (RAC) provides assurance to the Board of Trustees that significant operational and compliance risks facing the BRC are identified and effectively managed. The RAC is responsible for driving continuous improvement by reviewing, scrutinizing, challenging and supporting the management of risk. The RAC looks across all BRCs activities, including its UK and international work. We are seeking two experienced, strategic thinkers to join the RAC as independent external Committee members. The role of an independent member is to encourage, stretch and support BRCs drive for improvement and change through objective, expert, and constructive challenge. Person specification Independent Members should have a good understanding of our vision, mission and organisational values and the Nolan Principles of Public Life. Independent members will have strong interpersonal skills, sound judgement and a willingness to probe and challenge. Your application should demonstrate the following: * A good track record of operating at Board/Committee level - previous experience as an audit/risk committee member is desirable; * Board level experience of managing risk in a substantial organisation; * A firm understanding of operational risk management practices and how to apply them; * Experience of assurance relating to the management of risk; and* Interest in the work and charitable purpose of the British Red Cross. Candidates should be able to demonstrate skills and experience in: IT and Cyber Security * Thorough appreciation of managing IT and cyber risks effectively* Experience of leading or oversight of IT and cyber security in a substantial organisation. Independent Members are highly valued volunteers. You will be able to commit around 4-6 days a year, attending meetings in person/virtually. Appointment to the Committee is for a term of 4 years.
