Job Description

Residential Support Worker (BSL)WandsworthNovember StartTimeplan is currently working with an outstanding Special Needs school in Wandsworth. They are recruiting an experienced residential support worker with BSL Level 2. This is a long-term requirement, working hours will be 3pm - 10.30pm, 3 days per week.The school caters for children aged 10-19 years, with EHCPs for hearing impairments, SLCN and complex needs. As well as offering students an engaging curriculum, they also work hard to develop communication and social skills. The school has a wealth of resources for both staff and students to succeed.As a residential support worker responsibilities will include supporting the young people with personal care, homework, and activities. You will also assist with life skills such as cooking and cleaning, bedtime, health, and emotional well-being.They are looking for a motivated, candidate who can get stuck in, forming lasting relationships with the students and team.A Residential Support Worker role will involve:

  • Supporting children aged 10-19 in a full-time residential setting
  • To be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health and safety, security and confidentiality, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person
  • Setting boundaries for children and young people that may display challenging or emotional behaviour, whilst developing a relationship built on mutual trust
  • Residential Support Workers play a key role in contributing to the physical, social and emotional well-being, in order to provide a safe and nurturing atmosphere
  • To use behaviour management strategies effectively and in line with the homes policy and procedures, which contribute to a purposeful environment
  • Person Specification (Essential):
  • Evidence of successfully working with children and young people
  • High degree of resilience
  • BSL Level 2
