Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a registrar grade Clinical Fellow to support the clinical work in our oncology unit. This role is located at our state-of-the-art Duchess of Devonshire Wing facility in London (W1G 6JA), and we are offering a highly competitive salary which includes funding and support with educational/training fees.Established in 1932, The London Clinic is one of the UK’s largest private hospitals with approx. 1300 employees across 8 sites around Harley Street. The Duchess of Devonshire Wing is our award-winning cancer centre specially designed for patients receiving cancer treatment. The facility has 8 floors, which includes state-of-the-art radiotherapy, chemotherapy suites and 18 dedicated Oncology in-patient bedrooms.Job ProfileThe Oncology Clinical Fellow will provide clinical and medical support, and help us treat patients with cancer, using cutting-edge technology and a progressive approach to care. You’ll work across inpatient and outpatient acute oncology wards, as well as Radiotherapy Services.

  • Job Location:This role is located at our Duchess of Devonshire Wing in London, W1G 6JA (Close to Regents Park & Baker Street tube stations).
  • Job Type:This is a part-time permanent position, with weekly hours depending on how many hours you can commit to on a permanent basis in accordance with your research/educational commitments.
  • Shifts:We operate a mixed shift pattern; Monday to Sunday: Days = 8am to 6:30pm & Nights = 6pm to 8:30am (flexibility available on shift patterns depending on your research/education commitments).
  • Salary:Highly competitive, plus funding and support with educational/training fees.

  • The postmay be done while concurrently working on a research project aimed at a higher degree. Some support may be available towards tuition fees.
  • Key Duties
  • Responsible for the clinical care and supervision of Oncology inpatients and outpatients,conducting assessment and clinical evaluations (Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy) in conjunction with the Consultants and multidisciplinary teams, including rewriting of drug charts, writing up TTOs etc.
  • Work closely with the Consultants and nursing staff to support patient treatments and management of symptom control, as appropriate.
  • Support management of acute oncological conditions including neutropenia sepsis, treatment related toxicities and other oncological emergencies.
  • Participate on daily ward rounds and unit meetings, as well as ensuring all records are efficiently and accurately maintained and utilised, for reporting and audit procedures.
  • Attend to emergencies and urgent requests from the senior nursing staff in the absence of the admitting Consultant, and you will also form part of the acute Oncology steering group.
  • Skills & Experience
  • Full GMC Registration with License to Practice as well as an MBBS or equivalent.
  • Post qualification Medical/Surgical experience working within an Oncology unit.
  • Ability to assess and manage patients presenting with acute oncological symptoms, as well as performing all routine clinical procedures including; Intravenous cannulation & Emergency CPR.
  • Effective communication and clinical decision-making skills, with the ability to form strong relationships with patients, colleagues and consultants.
  • Highly self-motivated, confident, articulate, diplomatic and tactful.
