Research Technician required to join a fantastic Biotech company in central London whose aim isto advance the growth of the UK cell and gene therapy industry, by bridging the gap between scientific research and full-scale commercialisation.As an integral member of the team the Research Technician will work Upstream Processing (USP) Innovation for ATMPs manufacture by working within a commercial framework, utilising cutting edge processing technology and Quality Control / PAT analytical tools.This role will be part of the Industrialisation team at the Development Centre in London and is expected to work closely both with 2 other manufacturing sites. The successful candidate will take responsibility for their day-to-day planning and execution of laboratory-based tasks to assist senior team members to deliver projects to agreed timelines and budget.On offer for the Research Technician is a competitive salary and benefits package which can be disclosed upon application.Key responsibilities of the Research Technician: - Perform laboratory-based activities to contribute to the development of research-based manufacturing processes. As such awareness and understanding of operating within a Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) environment would be advantageous.- Laboratory-based activities can include but are not limited to media preparation, culture of various cell types and performing routine assays such as flow cytometry, RT-qPCR and ELISA.- Support laboratory operations by operating under aseptic technique, ensuring adequate reagent supply and that equipment is safe, calibrated and ready to use.- Working within the industrialisation team at the Development Centre in London in collaboration with both the MS&T team and the MC team to support STRs operations and the implementation of disruptive technologies for ATMPs manufacture.- Work closely with all relevant internal and external stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of projects.- Adhere to the company’s health and safety policies, be able to comply with quality management system procedures and electronic laboratory notebook (eLN) for data capture.Experience and skillset required: - Technical knowledge either in biologics or cell biology is required. More specifically, a background in immunology, virology or other related life science discipline is essential.- BSc within a Life Sciences discipline.- 1-3 years’ relevant experience working within a research or industry-based manufacturing environment either with biologics or cell therapies.- Cell culture experience with a range mammalian cell types would be advantageous.Desirable skillset: - Experience of cell culture using human and/or mammalian cell lines with STRs in batch and perfusion mode would be advantageous- Experience of flow cytometry sample acquisition, RNA/DNA isolation, RT-qPCR and ELISA would be advantageousSoft skills: - Good oral communication skills including project team updates through PowerPoint presentations to the senior group.- Good written communication skills including report writing, data presentation and protocol writing.- Ability to maintain accurate and detailed records.- Good IT skills including experience of data analysis and structure (such as GraphPad Prism and FlowJo).- Experience of laboratory equipment calibration and maintenance.- Sound understanding of good stock maintenance.- Excellent organisational skills.- A good team player but also be able to work independently.- A flexible approach to work assignments- A good initiative taker- Strong interest in cell and gene therapies
