This role can be based in London, Glasgow, Manchester, Birmingham or Leeds.We have partnered with one of the UKs largest premier independent advisory consultancies in a search to hire a qualified accountant to work as a Research Commercial Analyst in a team that supports the national financial restructuring group.The team are essential to the marketing and business development activities of the business. The insights and subsequent reports created by the Analysts are used in tenders and pitches by the Managing Directors and Directors.You role will be to monitor and analyse business markets, carry out research into sector issues and help identify and understand the primary indicators that allow our client to sell and market to corporates and private equity.This will include researching and reporting on financial stress and distress indictors, financial benchmarking metrics and value creation potential for enhanced M&A activity. From here you will make internal recommendations on what areas of the market therestructuring group should consider focusing their sales efforts on.You will need to have an interest in commercial economic matters and how these external factors can impact the financial stability of a business.Interpreting a set of accounts and understanding how a P&L interacts with cashflows will be an important skill to have. As will reviewing balance sheets and using financial data along with commercial acumen to determine which businesses should be targetedfor the group to sell restructuring services.Holding an ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification is essential based on the financial analysis work involved as is the ability to write high standard reports. Those with good commercial awareness and understanding of political, economical and environmental factorsthat can impact businesses.Those with an understanding of the restructuring / insolvency market already is desirable but not essential.This is a great opportunity for a commercial minded accountant and business savvy individual to get close to the key decision makers in a global advisory business. You will be indirectly assisting with the sales and business development strategy and directionof the firm through your research and reporting.An important role at an important time for many businesses right now.
