Job Description

The roleThe Senior Outwards Reinsurance Accountant is responsible for delivering timely and accurate outwards reinsurance treaty data to Outwards Reinsurance Accounting, US Finance, Treasury, Actuarial, Underwriting and other business stakeholders via the effective management of the Outwards Reinsurance Treaty Accountants.Key accountabilitiesDay-to-day management of the Outwards Reinsurance Treaty AccountantsResponsibilities:

  • Build, maintain and develop strong relationships with Finance, ORT, Actuarial, Underwriting, and other business stakeholders as appropriate to achieving business objectives.
  • Responsible to internal and external stakeholders for delivering accurate and timely outwards reinsurance processing, effectively managing the workload, deadlines, priorities and resources of the Outwards Reinsurance Treaty Accountants in line with internal reporting deadlines, internal Service Level Agreements and external contract deliverables.
  • The preparation and provision of gross and ceded data in support of new and renewal Treaty reinsurance placements including all external and some internal contracts.
  • Delivery of treaty set-up and testing in line with agreed placement SLAs.
  • Ownership of treaty data within the outwards reinsurance policy administration system, ensuring that all outwards reinsurance data is captured within the system in such a way as to support the Groups operational processing and downstream financial reporting requirements.
  • Effective post-placement administration of the Groups treaty purchasing in line with contract terms, including but not limited to timely and accurate premium payments, claims advices, recovery collections, provision of proportional treaty statements, and calculation of adjustment premiums and profit commissions.
  • Ensuring outwards reinsurance treaty data quality is maintained at a high standard, and that emergent and historic data issues are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrate that these responsibilities have been discharged through the publication of Key Performance Indicators in support of service delivery standards on a regular basis.
  • Demonstrate the accuracy and completeness of the outputs of the team through the operation of effective controls, evidenced appropriately in line with the Groups control frameworks, including SOX.
  • Manage ad-hoc requests for data, reporting or analysis relating to outwards reinsurance treaty data. Continuous improvement
  • Support the optimisation of technology and automation of processes owned by the Outwards Reinsurance Operations team
  • Promote the importance of service delivery and technical excellence
    • Skills & experience
  • Accounting qualification ACCA/ACA is essential
  • Minimum 2 years PQE within the Insurance industry is essential
  • Prior experience of Outwards Reinsurance or Risk Redistribution is essential
  • Ability to manage teams through significant operation and cultural change beneficial
  • ACII/FCII beneficial
