You would be working in a ranger team with a lovely bunch of friendly volunteers with your time split between the meadows, woodland, SSSI pond and riverside of Runnymede, Coppers Hill Woods and Ankerwycke and the heath, ponds and woodlandof Finchampsted Ridges, Simons Wood and Ambarrow Hill.Runnymede is not only famous for sealing the Magna Carta in 1215 but also for what is thought to be the oldest tree in the Trusts care - the Ankerywycke Yew.There is lots going on, including woodlandwork, practical estate maintenance work, regular volunteer work parties and ecological surveying, to name but a few elements of the ranger role.What youll be doing With your endless passion for our work, youll help with the protection and care of habitats,wildlife, property and machinery, and your passion will inspire other to love this beautiful place as much as you do. We want you to engage with visitors, making time to talk to them, not rushing away to the next task. As an easily identifiable member of theRanger team, on your best day you will be creating lasting memories for everyone.Youll make sure that, at every twist and turn of these fantastic landscapes, were delivering outstanding outdoors experiences and excellent conservation work. Youll share ourcommon goal with customers and build relationships in the local community, proudly representing the National Trust.Youll also share and promote the work that we do here, ensuring special places like these are here to be both protected and enjoyed by everyonefor ever. This will see you responding to queries and explaining the value of the work being undertaken. After all, your passion and dedication could fire the imagination that makes a visitor become a supporter for the rest of their life.In this role, youllwork some weekends, bank holiday and evenings and being on-call.Who were looking for Our team believe that people deserve more than just good service, but an amazing experience theyll never forget, and we are looking for like-minded people to join us.Deliver practical conservation work to protect and enhance the conservation status of our countryside sites in Berkshire and Surrey Demonstrate a passion for nature, heritage and the outdoors and have experience working in a similar outdoor setting Able toengage with visitors to ensure they understand the value of your work There is ample opportunity to develop your practical and surveying skills in this role across a range of sites and habitats: woodland, a SSSI pond, wildflower rich grassland, heathland,fen meadows, river banks, medieval fish ponds and coppice sites. Be able to work safely, with risk assessments and compliance with safety procedures Experience in a land, access and conservation management Experience and relevant certificates for using chainsaws,brush cutters, tractor driving and towing trailers A full UK driving license
