Springer Nature is a leading publisher of scientific books, journals and magazines with over3000 journal titles and one of the worlds largest corpora of peer-reviewed scientific text data. You would be joining a new programme of work to transform how Springer Nature uses its data: building up data capabilities, creating a data platform and engineeringcapability (technology, people and process) to create a foundation for the future, adding value to cross-organisation Initiatives and kick-starting data-driven Innovation.The job can be based in London (UK), Berlin (Germany), or in Heidelberg (Germany) andyou will work remotely at times with colleagues in many of our global offices including the above, Lisbon (Portugal) and Pune (India). Some travel will be required although not until its safe to do so. This role is on a small, autonomous team so you willbe expected to impact what we do and how we work. We like to keep our processes light, and bureaucracy slim.Across the programme, our teams are cross-functional, diverse and made up of different experience levels. All team members collaborate to deliver thebest solutions that satisfy our customers needWe are committed to growing and nurturing our people for the long term. We spend 10% of our time working on our own projects to promote learning and innovation; as well as regular lunch n learn sessions to shareknowledge.We work in a relaxed, friendly environment and when we eventually return to the office we will offer the flexibility to work from home up to four days a week. Currently, weve switched to 100% remote although Springer Nature has committed to providinga safe office-based working environment for those who would prefer to use it.About You You have significant industry experience in a leadership role on a variety of software projects. You have prior experience working on agile projects, or a very strong demonstrableunderstanding of Agile Software Development processes You can hold your own in technical discussions with a team and clearly communicate the situation. Youve run at least 3 projects or release cycles as a Project Manager/Scrum Master Youve got a track recordof successful projects (and a corresponding collection of lessons learned from them) You can give us a long list of improvements that youve been responsible for in the way your current team works Ability to see the bigger picture Learning mindset and theability to question upheld beliefs Flexibility to adapt to ever-changing situations Have good communication, stakeholder management and conflict resolution skills What you will be doing Collaborating with the Product Owner and cross-functional team to createclear user-focused goals and aligning the team around them Acting as the facilitator to the team, scheduling and supporting stand-ups, iteration reviews, retrospectives and planning activities Fostering team spirit and collaboration and developing a high performing,empowered team with a clear purpose Providing support and input to all aspects of the product lifecycle - from product definition, technical decisions and user experience through to marketing and sales Mentoring the team on agile and lean principles & practicesif needed. Leading one of our distributed cross-functional teams to continuously deliver for our portfolio of projects and products. Youll sustain our culture of continuousimprovement both from a process and technical perspective ensuring that working software is delivered frequently, engineering quality is upheld, customer issues are addressed quickly and that communication and collaboration is effective. Consulting and pitchingimprovements to Head of Project Data, to Business, Product Owners and the team Keeps track of industry trends to get inspiration for business products and processes Pushing for the scientific method of hypothesis testing where appropriate Encouraging creativethinking in team members and finding ways to nurture innovative thinking Pushing everyone to follow customer responses to new ideas, to track and analyze the success of new approaches, and to respond to customer questions or concerns.
