Job Description

Programming Manager - 12-month Maternity Cover (MY44467)A Japanese cultural hub based in Kensington is looking for a Programming Manager to join their team for a 12-month Maternity cover. They are ideally looking for someone with high level fluency in Japanese, either native level, or experience of working inJapanThis role will be working closely with the Programming Team overseeing the execution of Company Programming events, and other tasks when necessary. This is a fixed term position covering the absence of the postholder on maternity leave.Main Responsibilities

  • Developing, coordinating, and executing company academic and cultural public events programme, including physical events, online and hybrid events, outreach events at external venues and worksheets. Such events are often held at times which may not alignwith conventional office hours
  • Ensuring the Programming Officer is effective in the execution of their tasks, through instruction, support and monitoring
  • Liaising regularly with the Ministry of FA for creation of proposals and reports and to ensure outcomes consistent with departmental KPIs. The Programming Manager (Events) is required to fulfil reporting tasks that include individual event reports, contributionto quarterly departmental reports, Team and organizational KPIs, etc.
  • Liaising in English and Japanese with a range of stakeholders in Japan and the UK to develop and deliver event programmes
  • Relationship building with cultural and academic institutions and individuals in UK and Japan
  • Working closely with other departments to support creation of content and delivering of events and ensure marketing, technical and operational needs of programmes are met.This requires regular coordination across teams in various ways such as the EventsOperations Meeting
  • Occasional support and delivery of other projects such as installation of displays on the Ground Floor or text writing with other members of the Programming team or other departments
Ideal CandidateQualifications
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent qualification in a relevant field
  • Additional training / courses completed in associated areas advantageous
  • An understanding of Japan and Japanese essential
  • High level of proficiency in full MS Office suite
  • Knowledge of funding application process for artistic and / or community engagement programmes through grants etc, beneficial
  • Use of CRM and other software systems beneficial
  • Experience of working with or in Japan would be an advantage
  • Professional experience in a similar role with responsibility for executive-level correspondence, administration and logistics management and programming
  • Experience of working in an inter-cultural environment
  • Exposure to sector (Museum, Arts, NFP, Visitor Attraction, Heritage Destination or Tourism Development) beneficial
  • Previous experience in a project-office environment desirable
