Closing date: 9th July 2021 at 11.30 pmDo you have a genuine interest in, or knowledge of, homelessness issues, coupled with a good understanding of substance misuse services and a real desire to help make a difference to other peoples lives Then joinShelter as a Programme Coordinator* and you could soon be playing a vital role within an exciting new Dorset wide project called "Reach Out".*This role is being advertised as a Programme Coordinator but on appointment your job title will be Reach Out ProgrammeCoordinator.This role covers the Dorset Council area with regular travel and you can be based in either Bournemouth or Weymouth Shelter offices.About Shelter A home is a fundamental human need, as essential as education or healthcare. In all ourpeople decisions, we take pride in being inclusive, fair, equitable and transparent.We have committed to combat racism both within and outside Shelter and welcome you on our journey to becoming a truly anti-racist organisation.About the teamThe aim of theReach Out team will be to support people with their substance use issues by taking the help to them and meeting the client where they are; both physically and psychologically, in their accommodation or where theyre rough sleeping. It will also look to supportpeople based on their current motivation and goals, whether these are to start prescribed medication, reconnect with family, engage in community-based group work, go to residential rehabilitation, achieve abstinence or continue using substances. The projectwill be managed by a multi-agency steering group with participants including Public Health Dorset, Dorset Council and Dorset CCG as commissioners, alongside provider organisations including REACH, Shelter, Julian House, The Lantern, The Bus Shelter, DorsetHealthCare, The You Trust. All of this will be brought together and made to happen by whoever joins us as Programme Coordinator.About the roleThis will be a key role in ensuring the aims of the project are met, as well as identifying opportunities to agreesystems change and influence future commissioning. As well as being responsible for chairing the strategic forum, youll lead the development and oversight of an action plan and track KPIs, milestones and outcomes. Identifying challenges and potential innovationsfor more effective delivery will be part of your remit too, as will overseeing plans to ensure sustainability. Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of the service, providing regular reports to the steering group and funder and ascertaining the barriersto current services and proposing effective solutions - all are aspects of this pivotal role. And, when it comes to listening to whats key to people who are homeless and have substance misuse issues, working alongside them to try to understand barriers andtaking a co-production approach to explore solutions, again, well count on you.We are happy to talk about flexible working, personal growth, and to promote a workplace where you can be yourself and achieve success based only on your merit.About youWere lookingfor someone with a relevant background and genuine appreciation of the issues involved. We would particularly welcome applications from people who have lived experience. Whats key is the ability to draw on your experience and existing relationships, as wellas develop new ones and build trust with partner organisations and individuals. Its about understanding their needs and issues, getting to the route of the problem and learning from this to inform future service delivery. But thats not all. Youll also needto be able to effectively chair multi-organisational groups, facilitate focus groups and workshops and establish effective joint working protocols and referral pathways.
